Good luck to Ryan!, he was heck of a linebacker for the Viks. One more positive step in his attempt to make the league.

The Eagles announced the signing of defensive tackle Frank Trotter and linebacker Ryan Rau Thursday. Both players participated in this week's minicamps on a tryout basis and impressed the coaching staff enough to earn spots on the 90-man roster as the team prepares for training camp.

There are now 89 players on the Eagles roster.

Rau, 6-1, 230, was a four-year letterman at Portland State, where he ranks as the school’s all-time leader in games played. Rau racked up 287 tackles in his career and led the team in each of his final three seasons. A native of Folsom, CA, Rau averaged 19 tackles per game and earned league MVP honors at Folsom high school.

Trotter, 6-2, 275, concluded his collegiate career third on Memphis’ all-time list with 36.5 tackles for a loss, including a career-high 16.5 as a junior in 2010. He was originally signed as a rookie free agent by the Jacksonville Jaguars following the 2012 draft, but was released on 5/7. Overall, he started 36 games and amassed 195 tackles and five sacks, while earning All-Conference USA honorable mention honors twice. A native of Mobile, AL, played at John LeFlore high school, where he started on both offensive and defensive line.

Best of luck to Ryan to make the 53 man roster!

Eagles-Browns: Game review

"Linebacker Ryan Rau. The rookie free agent product from Portland State :D (yes, the same Portland State :thumb: that produced former Cardinals quarterback Neil Lomax) distinguished himself. One play in particular was a thumping hit on a run that forced a Browns fumble that was recovered by Darryl Tapp."

Ryan has been playing on the active roster the last few weeks, it appears. He made a tackle in yesterday's game against Washington, giving him 2 tackles on the season.

Be great if Ryan could get back in "the league".

Dolphins sign Rau, release Edwards

The Dolphins signed linebacker Ryan Rau on Friday and waived/injured linebacker Tariq Edwards. Rau, who was with Edmonton of the Canadian Football League earlier this year, played for Carolina, Cleveland and Philadelphia last season. Rau, undrafted out of Portland State in 2012, was on Philadelphia’s practice squad for much of the 2012 season.

Edwards, an undrafted free agent from Virginia Tech, sustained an apparent right knee injury earlier this week and didn’t practice Friday.

The Dolphins now have 10 linebackers on their training camp roster.
