Ryan "The Beast" Eastman is back!

Defensive end Ryan Eastman, who played at Weber State as a true freshman, is back at WSU after transferring to Hawaii.

"He'll have two years," Hammer said. "He's a very good football player, probably one of the better ones that has been through here. He can rush the quarterback, stop the run. He's nasty, plays with passion."

Nothing but love for Ryan and his family. Glad he's back and hope he can bring the nastiness and all out mentality back to the defense. Welcome back to Bulla, or is it Bllulla (Ha Ha) and the fam too. Look forward to seeing you guys in the fall!!!

Spring Ball was exciting but football is a violent game.

Last week Tuesday, 'the beast' had surgery on his left hand for a broken finger, dislocated finger, and torn tendons; prognosis = excellent

Last week Thursday he had surgery on rt knee for meniscus; prognosis = excellent

Last week Thursday he had surgery on lt knee for ACL; prognosis = excellent

According to the team dr. and therapist, he'll be 100% by August, and is already in therapy this monday, 96 hours after his surgery.

This is going to be a competitive season and I look for the Wildcats to be in the running for the league championship again; Wyoming and USU are two 'winnable' games for WSU.....

GO CATS

Bad news is dislocated elbow, good news is no fracture and back in three weeks or less, keep your fingers crossed. defense did ok,we need help on special teams. More pressure on QB would have been great, too much time in pocket. Should have blitzed more, Rolf and Filo were solid. Wyoming did not beat us but we beat ourselves. Bad snap on the punt, then a shanked punt could all be game changers.

We just needed one first down to run the clock, this one really stings. Like CSU nightmare all over. One snap and clear....let's get ready for USU.

GO CATS

GOOD NEWS: The Elbow is rehabbing very well

GREAT NEWS: Although he is ready for this week, coaches will hold him out for the EWU game because this week should be not as challenging for WSU.

GREATER NEWS: The offense and defense both had great games, good play calling, and great team effort!

I am glad the BEAST is back at Weber, I love his mom and dad, and I am glad his elbow is healing, hopefully in time for the EWU game.

But I have a question: Why is he constantly getting injured? Is it because he plays with such heartfelt reckless abandon? If so, that's a great reason, but I just want him there for the games that count.

Ever since he played in High School, he has played at a high level of intensity I heard. He literally leaves it 'on the field' every time, not a rah rah guy, just intensely focused. He has a high threshold for pain. At the Wyoming game, he was upset that the trainers would not let him back in the game after he dislocated his elbow. He told them to tape it up, give him a shot, and let him go back it......I don't think so.

3 team photographers came up to him in USU game and told him that he is a game-changer, and the D needs him. He'll rest the UNC game, no need to risk it, but will be ready for EWU. 2 years ago, 'the beast' was part of a defense that shut down their all world running back Taiwan Jones. in a game where their EWU LB Sherritt had something like 26 tackles, WSU Eastman took Defensive Player of the week and that drove their fans crazy.

He just wants to get out and help the team any way that he can, he's not the biggest, he's not the strongest, he's not the fastest.....but he's around the ball all the time :)

First game back for Beast and our D got 7 sacks and blocked 2 punts. I think he isn't over rated and affects the game. It was only ISU but still we didnt do that against UNC who was much worse, sons.

:notworthy:
The D had a great game. I think they were a little too amped up to start the game, with all the penalties but they settled down and played tough the rest of the game.

The final stats show 8 sacks, pletcher 4, Eastman 2, Vetteson 1, and Rolf 1(not sure). ALL sacks were from the D Line. 2 blocked punts.... Nice to see some nasty again on the D.
Go Cats, great team win and let's keep rolling

It's because of Eastman. Granted Idaho State's O-line is not very good, but having an interior lineman able to create a pass-rush creates havoc on pass protection. Our pass rush was terrible because there was no interior push/pressure. Without the interior pass rush it creates a seam for the QB to escape. I expect to see more sacks from our DEs for the rest of the year.

Great effort from the whole D-line on Saturday. It's crazy. So far this season WSU has had one of it's worst opponent rushing games ever and one of it's best.

TOP FIVE OPPONENT RUSHING GAMES
1. 515 83 atts vs. @Idaho 1976
2. 504 61 atts vs. @Air Force 1992
3. 485 70 atts vs. Montana State 1976
4. 440 47 atts vs, @Utah State 2011
5. 437 79 atts vs. @Montana 1970

TOP FIVE LOWEST OPPONENT RUSHING GAMES
1. -24 33 atts vs. Fort Lewis 1984
2. -23 15 atts vs. @Portland State 1966
3. -19 35 atts vs. Puget Sound 1981
4. -2 39 atts vs. Fort Lewis 2007
5. -1 33 atts vs. Idaho State 2011

I wonder which one shows up next week. Hopefuly the latter.... :coffee:
