Sac Announcer

I thought the announcer went overboard when he was talking about Weber/Montana 100% of the time getting a call that was not called at the end of the game. Most good referee's will swallow the whistle and let the players decide the game unless it is so obvious that they have to call a foul. He was saying all this as the ref's are standing right next to him reviewing a call. I thought that was inappropriate. And him also saying that Wildcat fans back in Ogden are also cheering for Sac St to win this game. My first thought was "HELL NO they aren't!" Otherwise we can't complain about homer announcers though as Carl and Dutch (as much as I love them) are two of the biggest homers in the conference. I don't have a problem with it, it's fun to listen to your announcers and have them want your team to win.

ZonaCat you are so right. It was completely inappropriate what that announcer was doing while the refs were looking at his screen and that is what I think the BSC needs to look into. I don't care how much of a homer he is because most announcer are anyway. He is over the top but that is his right. I do believe though that the fact that he gets to talk like that about the refs while they are using his screen caused a huge problem. If everyone recalls he spent the entire time the refs were looking at the screen to bad mouth them and both refs as they walked away from him snapped back at him. Then right after that they called their first Tech on the Sac St coach and then Coach Rahe next. Both techs were quick and I believe it was because they were annoyed with him.

Do something about that BSC!!!

talhad,

the sac announcer said he has been their announcer since 1998. if he was at the sac game in ogden in 2005, obviously he was, then he would not forget the worst home cooking job any of us have ever seen in the history of big sky refs when we won with a shot 2 seconds after the buzzer to beat sac.

out of all the big sky radio crews i think ours are the worst homers. i love listening to carl. i really like him and know him. i dont think i am insulting him, note i said "radio crews". ok im mostly just dis'ing dutch. :bad: i like dutch. he is a good guy but he can be a bit negative on the air.

if i was from another conf and listened to all 11 radio's i would rank weber the homeriest.

catcat, you can't accuse Dutch and Carl of being the "4th ref" making all the calls from the sideline as action takes place. They may do an "oh brother" if they don't agree....but the Sac announcer would say stuff like "weber player X shoves off the Sac player Y and he loses possession, but their gonna give the ball to Weber."

And in one of the most bizarre comments ever - showing how out of control her was - he said that "Weber fans up in Ogden are rooting for the Hornets to win this game" :wtf: Sorry, I don't think any Weber fans were even remotely feeling sorry for Sac St, and surely didn't want the Hornets to win.

:twocents:

You illiterate baker...please go back and read one of my past posts. I mentioned the Riggs "dunk" already. :thumb: I do remember you and I looking at each other after the "dunk" and doing a WTF at the Refs as they ran off the floor. That has got to be one of the worst NO CALL or MISSED CALLS of all times! LOOOOOOOOOOOL

Yeah, Dutch is HORRIBLE. End of story. I know he is a longtime supporter and former AD, but the university has other options. Let him just watch a game on press row and let Trevor Amicone (sp?) help call the games. He knows his shiz, and would do an absolutely amazing job. Also, he is employed already by the department.

I was already stunned by what this guy was saying and then just kinda had to start laughing when he said something to the effect of, "even Weber fans back in Ogden have to be rooting for Sacramento to win this game after how lopsided the series has been and how many time Sac has been robed by the officials." :wtf:
Yeah I'm pretty sure no true fan ever cheers against their team. Pretty stupid comment by McElroy there.
