Sac St. vs EWU - 02/12/15 = HUGE GAME

Well, let's get things started. This is the BIGGEST game of the year in the Big Sky so far. Should be an amazing game. Mikh McKinney might beat out Tyler Harvey for player of the year in the Big Sky if Sac gets a win in Cheney. He's that good and he will be worth coming to watch if you appreciate talented players. We're going to need everyone to show up. No school on Friday for Spokane public school students so hopefully families in Spokane will consider the drive out to Cheney on Thursday night. Should be an incredible atmosphere. Sac State is 10 - 1 in league and the Eags are 9 - 1. The winner of this game should be the front runner to host the Big Sky tournament. Home court advantage is everything in the tournament so this is a HUUUUGE game. Tell your friends about this one. This could be the type of game that gets some Eagle Alum interested in EWU hoops again, or, for the first time. Once people figure out what kind of a product we have on the floor, they will come on a more frequent basis. Hopefully the media helps us out making people aware of the magnitude of this game. Call your friends up! See you Thursday at Reese!!!

Man, I'd love to be there. I'd love to see Reese packed for the first time in freakin' ages! This b-ball team has never really seen honest-to-goodness home court support since crowds have been miniscule up until the last couple of games. It'd be a nice show of support and appreciation to see 4,500 or more in the building for such an important game. I wish this was a Saturday night game!

How many seats do you have at Reese Court??? I was there for the opener against Texas Southern (Sac State was playing Gonzaga that night in Spokane and I couldn't resist the free maple bars with bacon) but I don't know the capacity. Nice arena though. This should be a good one. Nice to see a BIG Big Sky game WITHOUT Montana or Weber involved. Good luck but I hope we win.

Reese Court capacity is 6,000. Currently the upper balcony on the student-section side is not used. Agreed, it will be nice to see two good teams play not named griz or wildcats.

I would be happy with over 3,000 fans this week being it's a Thursday night game (I think that's a realistic number). Heck, that's better than a lot of WCC teams draw. I think we could hit 4,000 if it was a weekend game. A large number of fans attending doesn't necessarily mean it will be loud and noisy though. Some of the loudest and craziest games that I have been to at Reese have only had 2,000 to 2,500 people in attendance but they were the right kind of fans because they made sure it was loud. They were the stay standing the whole game kind of fans. Don't get me wrong though-- I hope we fill'er up whether we get "standers" or "sitters!" If this game doesn't excite fans, I don't know what will. I know quite a few people that don't normally attend that will be attending this one which is great news. You don't always get head-to-head games that are this meaningful. I just hope Harvey plays because he is ridiculous and fun to watch. Any word???

You all KNOW Harvey will play in this game and that he's rested his injury in anticipation of this crucial matchup... If he doesn't play for some reason, then you all should be very concerned...

I like EWU to win this by 9-12 points, I hope I'm wrong, but this will be a very tall task for the Hornets on the road...

I don't think it's a given that he will play. But even if he doesn't, I still think we have a puncher's chance at home without him.

Would be great to get 4,000 plus in Reese Court for this game. :thumb:

Heard Haford say in an interview that Harvey was going to be evaluated by the doctors but a decision on his status hasn't been made yet. Hayford is smart by holding him out till he's 100%. We need him at 100% in the Big Sky tourney. With a rockin crowd we should be fine even without Tyler. Our guys really feed off of the crowd energy. This is going to be a heavy-weight battle with haymakers being thrown left and right. I love our talent and think our shooters are some of the best in the nation. Just look at their percentages. The numbers don't lie and it's been against quality talent. Best part is we can take you to the hole if you try to defend the perimeter. Most pumped I've been for an Eag game in a while. Can't wait till Thursday!!

Really pumped for this game. Wish I could make the trek over to see but will be watching on my computer. However, I did purchase my tickets for the Griz game. First basketball game since I graduated.

I sure as hell will be there. In the years i've been at Eastern i've never seen the stadium as full as it was agains Idaho. Im sure this game will be even more packed. All my friends are super stoked and I cant wait for the game tomorrow!

Just to be on the open honest side....Sac St. 3 pt %= 41.7%....EWU 3 pt %= 41.5%
Sac St. field goal %= 49.3%....EWU field goal %= 48.8%

Looks to be a real shoot-out....

On the other end of the court.........Sac St. 3 pt. defensive field goal %= 33.3%...EWU 3 pt D %= 37.2%
Sac St. defensive field goal %= 46.2%...EWU defensive %= 44%

Who is going to stop who is the question......

We both shoot the ball about equal....You guys defend the 2 pt shot better than we do and we defend the 3 pt shot better than you do....These stats are eerily similar....almost a dead heat...LET'S PLAY!!!

This game is going to be great. I'm currently working on catching up my blog, which includes a post on the MSU game, last week's player of the week and a preview of this game, but I couldn't resist coming over to drop a couple of my thoughts in this thread.

1) Last time we played without Venky Jois. EWU with Venky Jois averages about 6 blocks per game, without him they averaged 2.5 blocks per game.

2) Tyler Harvey is fantastic, but EWU can still put up serious points without him, outside of the weird game plan against MSU. The Eagles scored ten more points against Montana than their season average with Harvey.

3) Felix Von Hofe / Sir Washington / Garrett Moon are better defenders than Harvey.

4) Bogdan + Venky are possibly the best interior post players in the conference, if Harvey doesn't play don't be surprised if we see them on the court together often attacking the relatively weak interior of the Sac State defense.

I just hope this game lives up to the hype. I hate that Kadeezy made a prediction...because he is usually right. :x

Just over 2 hours away from game time. It looks like Harvey was cleared to play by the doctors and the Spokesman said he had a great practice yesterday. We will see if Hayford lets him go or not. I think the decision will be based on how Tyler is feeling today. Should be a great game either way. I think this one comes down to the last 2 minutes....

Just got to my seat. Upper parking lot behind Roos was at capacity. Venky might get 30 tonight. Sac State's weekness is inside defending. Let's Get 'Em Eags!!
