Sac St. vs EWU - 02/12/15 = HUGE GAME

33 minutes of great basketball followed by 7 minutes of Keystone Kops. What a strange game!

Glad to win! Wish the crowd was little better.

Was that the official count? If so, that was not accurate. I would say closer to 4K like Weir reported. There was more fans than the Idaho game and that was 3017. Does the count include students?

That number has got to be wrong. Upper stands were full and even about 30 people sitting on the tarped side. People were standing all around the mezanine level. Eagle club was full and the Students were packed in there. Has to be over 4k

Hats off to EWU, solid defense inside and absolutely deadly from behind the arc. :thumb:

Shouldn't have been close though, scrappy effort by the Hornets late to make it a game.

Great job by Sac State to rally especially McKinney he had a very rough first half and a solid second...
Yeah McKinney was clearly frustrated. He had no room to operate inside. Katz had to take him out so he could get his head straight (and he did as he made some huge shots in the rally). Very entertaining game.

It was packed in there tonight with the exception of some seats here and there in the upper level. I'm guessing closer to 4 K. No way it was near 3 K. There were a lot more fans there than the Idaho game. I'm not sure the way they keep attendance is accurate. However many people are were, it was a great crowd and great environment. Happy to see people came out to Cheney with other big events happening in Spokane. I lost my voice, again.

FWIW, I've always wondered how Eastern counts attendance. There have been a lot of examples over the years of numbers that don't seem to make any sense when you look around.

I remember the 1997 Playoff Semifinal against Youngstown State when Joe Albi was basically filled and the announced crowd was something around 10,000.

Fun game to be at, got a little tense near the end, but the good guys pulled it out. The crowd might not look so great numbers wise, but the atmosphere in the building was fantastic tonight (I thought it looked like well over 3k too). Not too worried about the turnovers at the end, with Harvey and Washington out, they were relying on guys like Jois and Bliznyuk to beat the press, which is obviously not one of their strengths. Great team win and it's nice to see these guys can play a little defense too. First place, let's keep this thing rolling!

Straight from the notes from the site. Not sure how they count it.

One of the things I've noticed about this team this year is that they are extremely discipline when it comes to not fouling. I can't remember a year where we didn't have trouble with always being in foul trouble--this year being the exception. With Harvey and Washington out, we really had to play discipline ball tonight and we did it. This team continues to impress. Especially with the national scoring leader out. I love "team" ball and this team knows what "team" ball is all about. Eags just find a way to win.

WOW that an effort. Both teams were playing at an "all out" effort. We do need to get better at breaking a press. Sac must have scored at least three times when they started pressing.
Attendance- I agree there must have been closer to 4k than 3k at this game. I arrived late, right at 6pm and every parking lot was full except the new lot up above. There were also a lot of students at this game so they probably walked rather than drive. My guess is 4-4,500.

The student section was packed but they get in for free with their ID cards. I wonder if EWU only counts the paid attendance in their final numbers? No matter what the numbers were, Hayford said in his post game comments that it is every 18 to 22 year olds dream to play in front of crowds like that. Nice job fans!
