I have season tickets, and really regret buying them. I will not be buying them next year. I love WSU, but the fact remains that I have lost near total interest in WSU basketball. It begins with Rahe, and I really need new blood in the program in order for me to attend. It is not fun for me anymore. The promos, SATOG, coaching, and opponents (lack thereof) , has driven my levels so low. I think the football season really changed how I view bball. WSU bball is like church. Once you begin to miss a couple games, its hard to go back. I have found that life still goes on regardless of WSU bball. For all these years I have griped about lack of crowds, but looking at it from my new stand view, its easy to see why people do not attend. Games are not fun, our conference is not fun, I can watch from home or anywhere for that matter, games are not important anymore, etc. I remember as a kid anticipating road games to listen to every word on the radio, and know its not special anymore. Rahe is driving the fan base into the ground. Until things are fun, even loyal fans will begin to question why they are going to games. Tal is right, going to the Dee seems like a chore, and that sucks.

Then stop going to games, stop watching them on the computer, stop following the team altogether.

You wont be missed.

My lack of posting isnt due to lack of interest. Its because coming on this fan forum over the last few years and reading crap like this post and several others has become the real chore. I love Weber hoops, always will. Going to the Dee has never felt like a chore to me. Just like Stewart Stadium was never a chore when the football team was finishing 2-9, I still went to those games to. I dont need to watch Weber play Gonzaga every week to get excited about Weber hoops.

I despise SATOG just as much as the next guy but to not go to a game just because you didnt want to hear him talk is pathetic.

To those who say they're going to stop going to games for these petty reasons I say good riddance.

As for me I plan on going to the game tomorrow night and cheering on both the basketball and football teams. Because they both deserve it.

Thats the thing.. he will be missed. EVERYONE is missed. But some fans are not as hardcore as you. I would argue that 50% if not more are "fair weather" fans. So keeping those fans interested and their support for the programs should be a top priority.
There will always be hardcore fans that take zero effort to get out to games, and that should be the goal for the AD to turn every fan like that. But they have to build a person into that fan. Yes winning games helps, winning cures all, but so does engaging the fans, being active in the community, & scheduling games worth making the trip for that "fair weather" fan.
So when people complain about the lack of interest in the program it isnt that they arent a fan, its athletics job to win them back!

I agree. Any fan who has left is missed and we all should want them back. I have always said that I respect everyone's opinion and that those opinions should be shared with athletics/AD. However, I think that I have also stayed with my opinion that it is easier to make suggestions from the inside than from the outside, looking in. Sure, someone might notice that attendance has leveled or dropped, but they won't know who or what their reasoning was. I say that staying engaged, going to the meetings, stating your opinion, and continuing to support the things that you love in your life, is the most effective way to change. Dropping out is usually not the best way to do things. Just sayin'. :coffee:

I totally agree! It's easier to make suggestions from the inside than be an outside critic, because outside critics have already shown that they aren't willing to stick with it, so why listen to them?!

Weber State fans are awesome, and I think the best is yet to come for this team and for the future! Randy is recruiting phenomenal players, and they will become more than their ESPN rankings show them to be. Sheesh, look at Kentucky! They recruit basically only 5-star kids, and they are struggling this year. Calipari's philosophy is so far from reality for most programs that it's not fair to compare. But the comparison you can make is that even with the best athletes and coaches, a program can experience ups and downs. Weber is currently on an "up", and I have reason to believe it is trending in that direction. Montana is on fire, but they are ripe for an upset during the season, but especially at the tournament. If Weber doesn't upset them, someone will.

Patience my friends. It's a long season, and the best is yet to come.
