Sac state

IF we don't play any beter against Sac State we will lose. We are not going to receive "gifts" every week. In the MT game the ideal bounce to set up the on side kick recovery is as much luck as skill. In the Bobcat game "gifts" like the fantom snap, blocked kick, roughing the kicker call, made the difference in winning vs losing. The defense will not save us forever, so offense needs to get it together.

Sac is definitely no push-over and they are capable of beating us if we can't get our shit together on offense. That said, good teams find ways to win close games. I wouldn't put the blocked punt versus MSU in the gift category, that was just a great play. As for the roughing the punter play, if you don't want to give up a huge penalty, then don't rough the punter. The phantom snap could have been a gift if we had actually scored some points off of it, but we squandered that opportunity by trying to run some weird gimmick play instead of just kicking the FG.

I do expect the offense to get back on track this week. I have been critical of Adams, but MSU has a great defense, especially the line which was disruptive and had Adams rattled early and often.

On a side note, I think Minter will be suspended for the helmet to helmet on Adams. Just watched it again. Adams did turn into him, but he didn't have to lead with his head. Straight helmet to helmet and it could definitely be perceived as targeting the Qb's head. Bad hit.

Clawman, enjoy the win! Every week a new individual makes a special play and a different unit has a special day. Hats off to the special teams! Better to be a #6 and win, then be a 1, 2, 3, and 5 this week!

We are 5-1 and tied for 1st in the conference. Bring on Sac, they are not better than MSU and we get them at home. Our offense will play much better next week. We beat a good team on the road today, and our defense showed us that we have a championship contender, especially when the offense starts to click. One step closer to the conference title, one step closer to the playoffs, one step closer to the chipper...

Just remember...its a Great Day to be an Eagle!

I'm just sooo worried about a let down. I can see where a bunch of college kids could let success go to their heads ad it will bite us. Frankly we are not as good as they might think they are.
Sac state only has one conference loss, and they beat an FBS school, Colorado State.

Agreed. Especially when they're more than likely going to be ranked number 1 and coming off a big win against a top 5 team. See NDSU.

Sac State did beat an FBS school, who is 1-5...but their seven opponent's combined win loss record is 10-35, and they haven't played either of the Montana schools, Cal Poly or NAU. I am feeling pretty good about this coming weekend. We didn't experience any injuries this past weekend, which is always good, and it was good to see Nick Edwards back on the field.

I agree, Sac St will not be a gimme, but have confidence that coach Baldwin will be able to keep his player's heads from swelling. The good news is that the defense and specials teams have improved immensely, and despite the fact that the offense didn't play as well as expected I think they learned a lot from the MSU game and won't be likely to make the same mistakes again. :thumb:

Pardon me for trolling...

SAC 30 Coloardo 28

Colorado 35 Wazzu 34

Wazzu 24 EWU 20

Therefore...

Sac 31 EWU 24 F

Of course I'm only kidding and do expect a great game this Saturday! The Hornets always play well in Cheney for some reason.

There's a much shorter connection.

UND 35 SAC 13

EWU 55 UND 17

Therefore...

EWU 70 SAC 10

Luckily I don't think there is too much of a chance that our heads swell up, at least on offense. We had the offensive production of a losing team on Saturday, and I fully expect our O unit to treat game film and preparation for Sac as if they are coming off a loss. Hard to get cocky in that mindset.

I'm with you on this one. After smashing Idaho, they played tough at WSU. Won narrowly @ Weber St. and Montana with no mental let down against an inferior team with UND. Montana St. win proved toughness to "win" however they come. Coach Baldwin seems to have a great feel for motivation with expectation.

I am worried about the same thing this week against Portland State. It is worse for Cal Poly. PSU has a 2-4 record. Sac State has a 5-2 record the Eagle player will probably respect. PSU has a very good offense and some good athletes on D and are better than their 2-4 record. PSU also had a bye week last week to get healthy and to practice against the triple option. If Cal Poly players do not bring their A game I could see an upset.

PSU is also best against the run. Should be a great game, but I don't think PSU has the horses (pun intended) on offense to keep up with CP.

Slo Stang,

If you put any stock in the polls a Cal Poly loss isn't an upset, after all EWU is ranked #1. I personally don't put much value in opinions polls. Cal Poly is a very good team and the triple option is something we haven't faced so I have no idea how we'll match up against it.

From the Mustangs point of view they must be a little concerned about the fact that they haven't faced any of the better BSC teams. Without the experience of facing MSU, UM, NAU, Sac St or EWU I suspect there may be some doubt as to how they will match up with Sac State and EWU on their home fields.

My weekly preview is up on Sac Buzz:

I’m hoping for a good game. We have played EWU tough the past few years so I think anything is possible at this point. EWU has showed some grit and pulled off some impressive wins.

He'll of a write up SD. You've done your homework
That's how I roll. :coffee:
I thought this is how you roll?
