Sacramento State @ Portland State

To quote Hewitt: "...and Portland State will have its first meaningful game in the month of November in five years."

Game on!

Not sure what Sac State will bring to the table this week. We should be better than last year, so we have that going for us.

They did beat a Pac 12 team this year. Albeit a pretty bad Pac 12 team, but a Pac 12 team nonetheless.

But they also haven't done super hot since then...I think it's definitely a winnable game. Should be a good one!

I think we have the edge going into the stretch drive. Sac State underperformed in some games and let themselves get beat in others. They have talent but have yet to turn the corner psychologically.

Plus they beat Montana. So they are a very capable football team.

Whew, a win and a winning season. Now let's get the last two. That was very painful to watch. I wish we would play a more disciplined game. The penalties and turnovers are inexcusable and put us in huge jeopardy of losing that game.

Question: Is Portland State that good or just lucky, considering how poor they played today, and still won by 9 points?

Ugly win.

Man, it was a cold day today. Couple hour of tailgating and the game and I was frozen to the bone.

This should have been a four score win today. The pick six and fumble late in the first half was just stupid, and if we were playing a better team, this would be a loss.

Nice play by the defense today.

Sac Bee...

Quite frankly, we should have held Sac State to about 6-7 points. That's all our defense gave them (because a 1-yard TD plunge by Fleming shouldn't count as an offensive drive), but the offense just couldn't stop giving the Hornets chances to win. Why did we line up in shotgun on third and a mile with almost no time left in the half? Just go under center and run the clock out as much as possible before kicking it. With the way our D was playing, there would have been no late-half score there.

Penalties. Why is this sounding like a broken record? Seriously, chop blocks on consecutive plays? I was hoping that maybe we put all of that behind us; apparently not.

It shouldn't have been so cold, but it felt like I was stuck in a freezer for most of the game. I found it hard to walk after the game was over because my feet were somewhat numb, and there wasn't much wind to speak of.

Overall, a win is a win, but it was anything but pretty.
