Look at Vs Top 50. You can see who has been playing tough games and who hasn't.

Also, for Strength of Schedule you can see ISU is #17 and Weber is #26.

Yesterday, it had Weber as having the toughest schedule in the Sky, it does make sense that ISU has the most difficult one now... ISU's schedule is extremely difficult... ISU has played BSU, BYU, Utah, and will play USU... Not a fun set of games. Weber has already experienced two of these foes, and well....that whole playing 40min thing. I guess BSU and USU both moved up the ranking quite a bit (both definitely deserved to). ISU should have beaten Boise and their game against USU should be a good one. Did you notice UM's strenght of schedule... 303???

No, UM was 280th, PSU is 336th...isnt that dead last?

Both should be winning all there games. UM is 5-4, PSU is 7-1. U'd think UM playing Duke would help a lot. But PSU's is really weak.

Wow... you'd think that the Bone would have a little more pride than that... Thats soooo USU of him. Do they also have 19 home games?

What happened to the big sky fines to teams that had such a crappy schedule? I thought we were trying to improve the quality of the games played?

Doug Lollerton wont penalize those schools that are from his home state... I don't think MSU could get penalized, they have played pretty good competition. Nothing compares with Weber and ISU's schedule though... 17th and 7th, out of every DI program... WOW!!

I don't know how they do this rating system, but you've got to be kidding me that Weber, ISUBEATS, and MULETANA are all ranked that low... Isn't SUU and UVTech both ranked higher than Weber?? I know Santa Barbara is... Next Weds game is going to be tough. Its great to have mid-major teams coming to the Dee.

Sorry, but I had to chime in. I think you would find it hard to argue against MSU not having a decent non-conference schedule. So far, we have played both Nevada and Cal State Fullerton (an NCAA tourney team last year, I believe) at home; we beat Fullerton 74-60, and lost to Nevada but were only down 3 with about four minutes to go (wound up losing by 9). We have played Boise State - a tourney team last year, Colorado, and Oregon State on the road, with wins at Colorado and OSU. This Saturday night, we tangle with Washington State - a tourney team last year - in Seattle in the annual Cougar Classic. Later we have Long Beach State on the road and a rematch with Fullerton in their house. For our Holiday Classic tourney in Bozeman, we are bringing in Utah Valley State (an independent) with a 72.62 rating and 163 rank, and Niagra (out of the Metro-Atlantic conference) with 79.48 rating and 74 ranking. We are also an ESPN Bracket Buster team this season as well. So I fell pretty confident in our strength of schedule.

I definitely agree with you Old Skool Cat... MSU has a very tough schedule, and they are playing excellent ball right now. I'll be honest with you, I thought MSU was going to be on the lower half of the conference this year, and be in the act of rebuilding, but so far, I think the Bobcats have played good basketball, and look to be a definite conference contender. Only PSU and UM have weak schedules... Especially PSU.. They may be 7-1 but they have played fairly weak teams. We'll see what they are made of when the tangle with UW this week.

Thats a bit better, but far from where they should be. The Sky is 18th, is what amazes me. This is going to be a very competitive conference season. A win tonight over Santa Barbara will really help Weber and the Sky climb the polls.

Sagarin Dec 16th continued:

The Texas-Pan American game is on Big Sky TV... I don't know why but it is... We should watch it at someones pad.

Dec 17:

158 Portland State
160 Eastern Washington
163 Weber State
183 Montana State
197 Montana

17 BIG WEST = 70.75 70.43 ( 18) 9
18 BIG SKY = 70.73 70.21 ( 19) 9

The Big Sky has improvd this year, the last couple years we have been ranked 20 & 21.

Big West:

137 Pacific

312 UC Irvine

Dec 19

Interesting to see how close we are to the top of the 'Sky now...
(especially given how much tougher our schedule is than most of the conference but we do have 3 games to go)

158 Portland State = 73.33
162 Weber State = 73.08
183 Montana State = 71.68
191 Eastern Washington = 71.40
209 Montana = 70.25
216 Northern Arizona = 69.82
218 Idaho State = 69.67
229 Northern Colorado = 68.88
331 Sacramento State

I think if we had PSU or UM's schedule this year we'd only have 1 loss.

Of our 4 current losses we really only have 1 bad loss - Long Beach, especially since we were up by 23 at one point - yikes! The other 3 are at least top 50, 0-3 vs Top 50 so there ya go - BYU, USU, and Miami OH.
