Lynell is a senior back and more than likely the starter coming in.

We are hoping for a big senior year from Lynell after a couple of tough years after his major leg injury.

Look forward to a good game. Glad Lomax isn't there still, y'all had one of the highest scoring teams under him I'd ever seen. 105 points once, right?

BTW - Steve is one of the nicest and greatest but you really don't want him moving to Portland. The prices of 24 and 40 oz s would skyrocket due to decreased supply.

lol, yeah we lit some teams up for 90+ back then

Great to have you all here, is Lynell Hamilton still your RB?(at least I think that was his name)

I remember him being a great recruit in HS, hopefully he can pull it together. cotrrect me if I'm wrong O'Connel is the QB?

O'Connell is the presumed starter and Kevin Craft the back up. As mentioned above Darren Mougey is being moved to TE, WR or Flanker. There was mention of him looking at defensive backfield but I think that is not going to happen. He is too good of an athlete to not have on the field. We have an excellent recruit, Ryan Lindley who looks to be the QB of the not-so-distant future.

Lynell is still playing but has never returned to the level he played in his Freshman year. He broke his leg in garbage time against UNLV and never was the same. Still, he is serviceable. We have a decent platoon of Running Backs with Atiyyah Henderson, Tyler Campbell and Brandon Bornes augmenting the backfield. They are considering Lynell as a Fullback but any way you look at it we'll have a pretty versatile 2 back set at times.

Still lots of questions going into camp. Beyond the RBs we are looking to see where one of our very athletic QBs (Darren Mougey) ends up - possibly a flanker or reciever. Our OL will see lots of candidates to help a weak spot. We are curious of any of the freshman recruits will be ready and to play.

Lots of things to fix and Coach Long took a long term approach to recruiting (line, etc) rather than quick fixes (playmakers. recievers...)

So lots of changes coming, how's the D look?

To me, that is the question of the year...

There have been so many issues and considerations that spring ball is needed before we can really know what our looks will be. No matter what I say now will probably be negated by the middle of camp.

Brett Martin will probably lead the D from Linebacker and will be ably assisted by Marcus Yarbrough. After that, our DE's are a big question as they underachieved at times last year, our DL penetrated agaist Wisconsin then seemed to fall off the earth. We have a million DBs but no one seems to come to mind as a real stopper. Long is going to challenge the D to match their performance against Wisconsin last season but I am afraid we are a couple years away from fixing the problems left by a poor recruiting effort on the previous staff. (Some fellow Aztecs will have a different view than I)

So defense is the key, our flaw is offense, we are hoping that mouse can get the offense intact by september, you guys have seen what the R&S offense can do hopefully we can bring the best out of it

Our QB is a former I-A QB from Colorado named Brian White, he nearly beat Montana after being in the rose city for only 6 days, our RB is Mo Ali, another transfer(though we are waiting for his petition for another year to be passed) he had some bright spots last season, our WR corps will be strong but will need to dedicate lots of time to learning the offense. our O-Line will be VERY good next year

Our defense......just ask your fellow conference mate NM, they couldn't score one TD on us, we will be head hunting with JG handling things

With Glanville coming in and a defense already in good shape - you all will be tough to move the ball on. O'Connell will be ready but our WR's haven't impressed me as have previous classes. Our Ol will be the real key to the O. Give O'C some time and protection, give the RB's some running lanes and we'll start scoring again. That is still a lot to ask of this bunch...

We'll see. Washigton State will be a hell of an eye opener for them in September.

/users/31/07/37/smiles/38292.gif always plays at their opponents level, they can nearly beat USC then lose to /users/31/07/37/smiles/856309.gif Terribly inconsistent, you guys can beat them

It's tough to predict how we will do, it's either going to be awesome or back to normal, we got the players but........we are all in the learning stages right now.

That could be said about us as well. Michigan, Ohio State and Wisconsin were great efforts in each of the last three years but Cal Poly? ugh...

If the Lobos couldn't score on you, I don't know that we will either. At this point in time the Lobos are a much more physical FB team than we are. I will say that the offense was decimated by injuries last year, but I am very, very skeptical of any real improvement in our record this season.

I'm hoping we can keep the consistency on Defense, it's all up in the air, hard to tell exactly how good we will be next year, I can say though we will be scoring alot.

That's why I think we can win, our defense. If we can hold them under 20, we should win. There's no excuse for the R&S not producing 3 touchdowns per game.

I agree, anything under 3 TD's is underachieveing, even when we play the griz

if our D can play like they did last year, watchout

Just my take and I don't know if alot of Aztec fans agree with me on this.....

Any one of 4 QB's could start. I feel that O'Connel is the leader at this time, but Craft, Mougey, or rs freshman Sokolowski could get the spot early. I also would not rule out the true freshman Ryan Lindley.

Sokolowski and Lindley are the two QB's that Long has recruited for his style of play. I think Lindley is the best of the bunch, but is a true frosh.

Defense will be a mystery. There is talent and athletism. Linebackers should be real good. DLine should be OK and backs are all new and inexperienced.

The Aztecs have so many questions this year that it is impossible to make to many predictions at this time.

...and Wyo too...

bad year. Had lots of hope after holding Wisco scoreless in the first half but it fell apart. Beat AFA but couldn't get any traction off the win.
