San Diego State Thread

Interesting to note no mention of Atiyyah Henderson. He was our freshman scat back, who led the MWC in rushing for much of the season, but had a bad habit of fumbling. Wonder if he's in Long's doghouse and if a message is being sent?

I noticed his name in the box score of the Cal Poly game, you guys may have lost but he sure tore it up

Henderson kind of came out of nowhere and surprised many of the Aztec faithful with his ability to gain yards behind a very suspect OL. I think that's what puzzles many of us when Long fails to mention him. If that's what it takes to get him to hold on to the ball, then do what you got to do!

As you are dshawfan, I am real anxious to see Henderson behind a better line. I liked what I saw last year from him.

What kind of athlete was henderson like in High school?

I have no idea where Henderson played his HS ball; really, I think he was an after thought to all of us. He seemed to catch Long's attention last spring and he just kept making plays throughout the summer camp. When Hamilton got dinged again, Henderson took the bull by the horns and ran. It will be interesting to see if this team comes together or continues to become more divided this year. If they come together and decide one team one direction, I believe the staff is capable of winning at SDSU. If the kids continue with their own agendas, then its going to be another ugly season on the mesa.

Allen is huge for a LB the question is what is his 40 like? If he is quick then Allen and Burris could make kind the duo. I'm not sure if you guys can put much together this year other than maybe 1-3 more wins then last yr but If Long is good and makes the team believe in themselves the Aztecs could become a defient force in the MWC which is something that it really needs. You guys will have a tough season ahead of you but it will be good for the players because they will have to dig deep and find who they really are as a team and as a individual.

I'm definitely gonna try and make the trip down to SD its gonna be a good game.

GoViks - if we put together 3 more wins than last year, Aztectalk will be exploding. Are we capable of that? I don't know? We were so banged up last year; how those that missed last year add to the equation this year is anybody's guess. We should get some skill people back that should help the O a bit more this season. My biggest concern is at the LOS on both sides of the ball, but particularly the O-line. If we can compete at the LOS, maybe those 3 additional W's are out there.

As for Allen, I believe he was the SD County Defensive POY coming out of Vista HS. He was a good coup by the previous regime and I think he will continue to improve under Long's staff. You're right he and Burris could make an interesting combo inside.

Here's a bio on Allen: http://goaztecs.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/allen_russell00.html

I think the McNeese games outcome will determine how we do against SDSU

I have to agree. The game against the Cowboys will tell the Vikings a lot about how PSU will do in 2007.

They will be much better this time around, your first win should come in week 2....and sadly then a probably won't win for another 3-7 weeks

I think we have the upper hand against MSU cause the have ZERO film on our offense, we will do things differently from UH, I see us catching them off guard and winning by 7-17 points

Oh, brother! UVA has never played in the high altitutdes before!

We'll beat them by 3.

Wyoming couldn't beat Air force in Wyoming, altitude will not be an issue, UVA will be back after their rebuilding year, don't be surprised if you lose by 20 or more

anyway back to topic, I also think how SDSU fairs with their early opponents will effect how they play us.

That's because AFA is used to it, not UVA.

Back to topic, the San Diego State game be interesting. Which Aztec team will show up: the one that lost to Cal Poly or......

I'm guessing between what you did to UNM last year, what UNM did to us last year and what we let Cal Poly do to us last year that this year PSU will have our full attention.

I agree with PSUViking, you cant count on altitude keeping them from winning. I can imagine that they will be well prepared for the cowboys, you guys are lucky to play them at home. You just better hope you cowboys can play a step ahead of UVA of they will run the score up on you guys at home which is never a good thing!

As for SDSU's sake they better hope the longs new regime to the program works for them because if they can't create some team continuity it will be another tough season.
