It should be coming out pretty soon. Two more games were announced and if you look on the Utes website you can see when we will be playing them at Vivint in the Beehive Whatever.

What do we know:
The full Big Sky schedule
Wright State and also, either Murray State or La Salle at the Gulf Coast (I believe Nov. 25 and 26), and one more game.
West freaking Coast Baptist (Nov 19 @ home) UUUUUUGGGGGHHHH
University of Utah Dec 14? (Beehive Classic)

Should be added:
Fresno State @ home
San Diego @ home
BYU @ road
UVU @ road

Heard could be added:
Dixie State @ home
Another two home games (guarantee and beat)
Another road game H/H

Well, we knew there would be at least one total crap game. There may be another added, who knows. The only positive I see in those one or two games every year is that the newcomers get a lot of action and we get to see some of what their potential might be. Over all, this is a good schedule and should provide some very competitive games.

Ho Hum...hope they add a Dixie State @ home in OOC play so that the Wildcats can perhaps eek out at least 1 in-state win... :-( like last year.

Have we had to wait this long for the schedule to come out? We know about lots of games, just not specific dates. I'm curious if anyone over the last 2-3 years have become less and less excited about Weber hoops as I have? I hate admitting that because I love Weber State and mostly our basketball program. If we have another lack luster season like last year, I'm afraid of what might happen to our program. I don't want to make this a negative or pissing comment. I really hope we can get back the excitement and fun of Weber hoops. We have the tools, resources, and talent to be a dominate mid major program, but some things need to change. I'm looking forward to seeing the final schedule and order my season tickets. Sucks we wont have any instate home games, but playing San Diego and Fresno State at home will be good games. This is a great year to play the MUTES on a neutral court as well. The U is a train wreck right. I believe we beat them this year. They wont have any SR's only one JR ( he is a lightly recruited JC guy ) and only 3 returning Sophomores that played last year. The have like 8 Freshman. Yikes. They are going to be worse than my other favorite team Washington State and that's bad. I hope last year lit a fire under the coaches and players asses and we have a great year.

I'm guardedly optimistic about this upcoming season. The biggest problems we have had over the past few years are defending and rebounding. Those are still unknowns, but at least we have some young talent entering the picture and healthy competition for PT. I think we have the pieces, it's just matter of how they all come together. I still love WSU and basketball, so none of that has changed a bit. :thumb:

What?? A fellow Wazzu fan? Great to hear! My family is from Pullman. GO COUGS.
But to answer your question about our basketball program and the enthusiasm behind it, I agree with you. I went to school when Lillard was playing and it seemed like we were about to light the world on fire. Ever since then we have slowly tapered off. No big drop-offs but one less win here and there.
We have all had the conversations at to why that has happened. Rahe isnt going anywhere so we can only hope with a new AD and new marketing director we can get some quality games for them to market and boost our RPI. Here is for hoping

I agree that some of the problems have been consistent defense and rebounding, but it is my observation that the team just hasn't come together to play as a team. When your main guards average no more than 2 assists per game, you have a problem. I watch our guys and think they have the ability to be good passers, but then they just don't do it. "Making the right play" sometimes means scoring, but often it means making a pass to a teammate for a better shot. I'm sure Rahe and the guys will get this ironed out.

I feel that Tim will end up being a strong AD, but needs time to get his people into place and correct some issues afflicting the department. If I was Tim, I would be totally concerned about how lackluster marketing has been and do my best to rebuild a fan base. Jerry left the department with a strong APR, graduation rate, and focus on improving facilities. Now, Tim has the chance to build a really strong and stable fan base. Focus on the students. Fill the student stands once or twice a year for football and three or four times for basketball. If you can do this this season, you are headed in the right direction and can build off of the success this year next year. Right now, we can't fill the stands for every game. So, I'd focus on a couple major games each year. I have a dear friend who would be an outstanding marketer for the department and I keep hoping he gets a shot, but this is his philosophy. Put everything you've got towards a couple of games and go from there. If they like what they see, have fun, and get involved, they will return.

However, I agree that interest in Weber State Basketball has stagnated. Randy will get his wins and still compete for the conference crown, but excitement in the program is definitely at its lowest since Randy took over in 2006. Thankfully football has been exciting, innovative, and successful. Tends to help balance the dullness that basketball has become. Last season was the first time since Joe Cravens that I totally dreaded coming to games. I still attended, but was very confused at the coaching and system. However, with some new coaching blood, players, and talent, we might see some changes. At least I hope so.

Winning basketball is all about defense, rebounding, and playing together. Randy knows how to get that out of his teams. For what ever reason, that didn't come through last season. I think that it will get corrected. I agree with everybody on this forum that marketing to our student fans is the piece that has been missing for quite some time now, and needs to be the focus over the next 20 years or so. That will be a huge part of a sustainable future. That focus should be intense and constant for a while. No more excuses. Get it moving. :coffee:

FIRST...how much longer do we have to wait for the remaining games to be announced?!? Good news, neither the Y or USU have released their schedules. Maybe they are the holdups?

I agree with Olds. Students are definitely the key. Two issues I had with Jerry was his inability to generate or create revenue and build a fan base. Yes, under his tenure, the department was able to build and improve the facilities, but he wasn't the guy getting the money. He was the administrator who put forward the plans and has kept the coaches here, but other folks were getting the money. Administration and direction are huge. So, I'm not trying to discount what Jerry accomplished here. He did a good job and has been awarded with a promotion to USU. Good on him, but that doesn't mean he didn't have faults. Under his tenure he totally missed out on building the fan base. That starts with the students. Gotta get the students involved and excited. Get them out to the games and involved in their school. Regrettably, this doesn't pay off financially immediately, it might take decades, but eventually it does. I'd argue that Weber lost almost 20 years by not focusing on students. This is going to seriously hurt the school going forward. This shouldn't just be a athletics issue, but a university one. Really the president should get involved. Since, not only can this help you in the future (students are the future donors, supports, and season ticket holders), but it helps retain and graduate current students. To me, it is a definite win-win.

Update on some dates:
San Diego Nov 14
@ UVU Dec 4
@ BYU (either after Thanksgiving or Christmas)

That is all right I've got for now.
USU and Fresno State should be the last two schools. Well, I'm sure we will see, at least, one more beat and possibly a guarantee.

I don't think it would be after Christmas. That would put it too close to league games and we seem to like our guys going home for Christmas. If it is, that would be a real departure from what we have had in the past and probably a big gift to the new BYU staff.

Not that I spend a lot of time on Vanquish the Foe, but according to the zoobs on that site, the game will be scheduled for late November or right before Christmas. Tal is a week late with the BYU game. USU is a done deal. So, that isn't the game holding up the department from releasing the schedule. I just don't know the date. I'm guessing it is Fresno State. They don't want to come to Ogden. Too bad, you punks signed a contract and we have already fulfilled our half of the bargain. Now time to come pay up. If you don't, good luck getting anyone else to ever come to your place in the future or without a huge pay day.

I apologize that my first post is a Debby Downer but I'm happy to have found a place to be around fellow Wildcats. I understand it is hard to get schools to come to Ogden because it looks bad for bigger conferences to lose to a Big Sky school but goodness gracious this home non-conference schedule is straight awful. If I'm not mistaken the only schools coming to The Dee are 2 schools from the National Christian College Athletic Association, 1 NAIA school and 1 WCC school.

This schedule is an absolute joke..... 351 division 1 college basketball teams and we can only schedule 1 non conference home game??? This will be the first year I will not buy season tickets. I cannot justify paying money for this garbage even if the tickets are cheap. I hate to be the Debbie Downer but this is an absolute outrage in my opinion I can't believe they put a schedule like this together and expect fans to show up.

Wazzu, not only 351 DI, but how many DII, DIII, or NAIA schools are there? And, once again we see the Duft influence on this schedule. Ulterior motive coach?

And frankly, Randy get over your issues with Judkins and Parrish and get Dixie/Westminster on the schedule. The teams coming to the Dee are embarrassing for our program and the confines of the Dee. To me this is Another step back for a once mighty and respectable program.

Since Rahe and Co. only give a rat's backside about the 2nd half of the season, I'd love to see a BSC only season ticket package. Then, maybe I'd consider getting back in the "good ol' boys club" again. After 20-some-odd years of being a season ticket holder, I thought it would be much harder to give them up a few years back than it was. I'll tell you it's been easy to find other, better entertainment to substitute for games vs various church ministry groups.

Added to the usual disappointment of a lame OOC schedule at home are the in-state games all being on the road...too bad Coach Rahe/Duft opted as expected to bring in the West Coast Baptists, Westcliffs, Bethesda's (What! no Antelope Valley !?) instead of trying to schedule Dixie St for a best chance at a instate victory!! But oh, that's right, can't schedule the Dixies until they are Div I (then as Rahe's fans say, he's willing to !!). :ohno:
