Here is a look at what I think are our chances at getting a win in the schedule for 2026. 1 is not a chance up to 9 being a sure thing. A new coach, new philosophy and the idea that Barnum didn't really leave the team in a good spot makes this year's Vik team a big question mark. I hope I'm wrong on some of these. Here we go
UC Davis at home (3.5)---Starting the year with a week 0 game at home against a conference foe. The Aggies are supposed to be really good this year. To stay close to them would have to be considered some sort of victory.
at San Diego State (2.5)---The first of 2 FBS money games. The Aztecs first year in the newly formed Pac-12 and they won't want to stub their toe against any FCS school. A good showing would be staying close for the first half.
North Dakota at home (3)---A former Big Sky conference opponent in the past. The Hawks are poised to take over for their brothers who have gone on to the FBS. This game will be a tough one.
at Oregon (1.5)---One of those why play it games. The Ducks should be able to dictate what the score will be, both on offense and on defense. A moral victory would be to keep it close through the first quarter.
at Weber State (4.5)---A tough non conference schedule should prepare us nicely for the Wildcats who we may be fighting to stay out of the cellar this year. The game is on the road, but it should be competitive. We may have a chance.
Utah Tech at home (6)---The other team that, in many polls, are picked lower than the Viks. And its a home game. This game should be a breakthrough game for the Viks and finally get a good win.
at Northern Arizona (4)---Tough game in a tough place. The Lumberjacks will be fighting to stay near the upper echelon of the conference. It is on the road at altitude so a win may be rather tough to get here.
at Idaho State (3)---The Bengals are actually going to be really good this year, good enough to possibly challenge for the top of the conference. They won't take any mercy on the Viks which makes a win on the road pretty tough.
Idaho at home (4)---This isn't similar to the Vandals of old. This will be kind of a down year for them. But, do the Viks have enough to stay close enough? That is the question. They are still the Vandals. They are still a tough team.
at Montana (3)---Going to Missoula in November against a Grizzlies squad who will be firing on all cylinders by then. This does not bode well for the Viks. This could really be a tough contest.
Southern Utah at home (4)---The conference welcomes back the Thunderbirds, and they should be near the middle. The Viks will want to get a win in the final home contest of the year. But the Thunderbirds could be fighting for better things.
at Eastern Washington (4)---The Dam Cup. On the road against the rival Eagles squad. Can the Viks get a win in the last game of the season against their rivals? If they've improved through the year, they have a shot.
