Scoreboard

Removal of the old scoreboard started yesterday. Looks like the new scoreboard will be ready for the opening home game on September 13.

That's awesome the old one was out of the 1940's... This will spruce the place up a bit. :thumb:

I have some other ideas, get ride of that chain link and maybe a respectable fence around the perimeter.

That would help.

As long as we are throwing out ideas, get rid of the metal student stands and build something respectable that matches all the other structures at Nottingham Field. Make it look like a college football stadium and not just an average Colorado high school stadium. Shave $10 million off the overly ambitious and misguided $74 million student commons project. Shouldn't be too hard.

I agree 100%. Especially since the TV cameras on on the "good" side of the field, the backdrop of the game on TV is of cheap half empty bleachers with the dorms in the background. A classy redo of the student/visitors sideline is really needed.

Here is a new high school seating section (in Washington State) that would be awesome as a new student section:

That's exactly what I'm talking about. The stands might be half empty, but at least it would look like a college stadium, look more respectable on TV and be something to showcase to recruits.

Then just imagine things getting turned around and the Bears build a winning program. The stands would be full because the students would have a reason to stick around on the weekends. You might just have an actual college game day atmosphere.

Is there a pic or rendering of what it will look like?

Don't believe this is an actual rendering, but this is the graphic posted on the athletics site today-

Here is the link to the story-

Was not aware that they were also installing video boards in Butler-Hancock. A definite improvement for both facilities.

Wow, the B-H one looks like a movie projector screen hung over the court. I hope there is more to it than that.

It's good to see all of this progress tohugh.

This is an awesome project. A big thanks, to Mr. Dunn, donors and all who made this happen !! This will be great for fans, players, recruits !! Good job !!

That picture is awesome but I hope we can get our money back because it's obviously already broken... it shows UNC winning... :coffee:

Can they put on movies during the games when we're getting killed. I can just see it. We're down by 4 TD's to Houston Baptist and then whamo! They put on a nice family movie, something like Frozen.

That's a good question maybe we could open it up to suggestions.

What kind of distractions can they use the scoreboard for when we're getting killed?

I'd say those dot races that you always see at the Pepsi Center, people seem to go ape shit for stuff like that.

Maybe they can hand out Xbox controllers and have a Call of Duty tourney...

Whatever they put on the scoreboard, they need to keep the Back to Back National Champs sign on there. It's a reminder to fans and players that we used to be pretty dominate at football.

Bear down:
Excellent point
As times and traditions change...... It's important to present the places we've been and a culture of excellence
Thank you!

And my point is I think perhaps UNC football likes to live in the past, like somehow that translates to success now, which is doesn't. Sure this program won some games in D2 but those days are (clearly) in the very distant past....

Win some games now... forget the past, it doesn't mean shit if you lose to RMAC teams at home...

And before I get flamed just look at the last decade, embarrasing... Wait, let me capitalize that, Embarrasing.
