scrimmage report

Man, don't tease all us out of towners like that... I actually thought I was going to read some comments about how things looked and got shot down.

Ditto that!! Going through serious football withdrawl over here! On the other hand - Thanks for making me laugh, Clawman.

I can’t stand it, no posts for today. I have been busy since the Sat. scrimmage but because no one has posted all day here it goes.
1st I sure hope Adams does not get hurt.
2nd West has the greatest pair of bedazzle shoes ever worn by a QB.
3rd Defense is still not getting to the corners fast enough.
4th Offense has a number of new sets and options off of those. My football IQ is not high enough to tell you what they all are. I can say, it will require opponents to spend film time to understand them.
5th It was real cold out there.
6th If you want to see the UCLA kid he will be out there next Sat.
7th Team should suit up and take a bus to Alby Stadium on Sat.

8th Looks like Zamora(rs fresh.) led defense in tackling and wasn't he scout team mvp on "D" last season? Think we have a star in the making.

I forgot? What made the scrimmage so hard to follow was the all time greatest spotter was not in attendance on Sat. I missed Vic. he knows the kids so well and all their practice #s. I hope it was do to the cold weather? I was like being in the TV booth during a game with our your color commentator missing.
Missed you bud and now I will have to wait until the fall because I will not be able to make anymore spring scrimmages.

Did he get moved from Safety to OLB?

Yep. He and Hamlin are gonna be a great tandem this year. I wonder who will step up at the other OLB spot?

Looks like there is a scrimmage tomorrow at around 10:30. Anyone going to attend? Looks like it will be windy, but not wet.

As bad as the defense looked last week they were good this week making the offense look disorganized and leaving a lot of room to improve.

First time I have seen the team this spring. Like “Clawman” said, offense looked a little rough at times today, but still managed to have some good plays. I don’t’ recall seeing Quincy Forte on the field.

I was most curious of how the defense would look during the scrimmage. I had a feeling this year’s defense would be improved. The D looked solid and I think that explains a lot of the difficulty the offense was having. A lot of people made good plays on the defense today.

LDopaPDX was wondering if Anthony Larry was back. Yes he is and looked big and athletic today. Many times he was not down but standing, and a couple times they had him dropping back into coverage. The rest of the D line did well especially against the run considering they were up against a good veteran OLine.

Cody McCarthy and Ronnie Hamlin looked good, especially against the run. Hamlin had a pick six interception off Vernon Adams. The secondary looked really good today. I did not see Allen Brown play today. Tevin McDonald was at free safety and had a pick on VA that he probably could have taken back for six but was blown dead as he was isolated with VA running down the field. McDonald is just a great free safety, breaks on the ball fast and had at least two, maybe three pass break ups. Jordan Tonani was at strong safety, is noticeably thicker this year, covered well, but looked really good on run support. Tonani is going to be a standout strong safety. For the corners, I was impressed with Christian Hudnell. Didn’t see him play a lot last year but he covered well today. Ronald Baines covered well and had some good pass break ups. TJ Lee only played a little at the end, but I think we know what he can do.

Looking forward to the Red-White game next Saturday.

The Pac 12 speed Tevin brings to the team was obvious. On a punt return drill before the scrimmage he easily ran away from coverage.
As far as his pic of Vernon, it should be noted it was a tipped pass that he was in the right place at the right time, and yes he could have scored easily.
