Season Tickets

I'm slowing starting to get turned onto the WSU football program, i'm from SLC and am a current Season ticket holder to the U. I'm curious as to what kind of turnout you guys have during the season as far as fans go?

I went to a few games back in 2004 and if there were 200 fans in the stadium for the game versus SUU that i'd be surprised. I'm thinking about getting season tickets up there also, as 4 of the 5 home games fall on away games for the U.

Is there a big turnout, how are the fans?

Last year we averaged about 6500 people per game. I would expect a significant increase in attendance this year. I would not be surprised if we don't average 8500 or better per game. The fans are GREAT! Your attendance and interest in Wildcat Football is not only welcome, but encouraged!!! Hope to see you at the games :!:

Well, we are working on the student fan base. We usually get about 5-600 students per game. Sorry, the actual avg. for last seasons attendance was 6900.

Student attendance traditionally is higher for basketball. I think we are gonna see some new things in football this year. We've NEVER been preseason top 10 in the nation if even top 25 before.

I think we will see higher numbers in student and fan attendance this year in both sports.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but don't you guys play D1 BB?

The NCAA classifications all come down to $$

Yes, WSU is DI in basketball.

WSU has been DivI since 1963. Regarding basketball, WSU was the first ever junior college to move straight up to DI.

Football is where the mystery comes. WSU has been DI in all sports since 1963. In football they have had some different names but as far as 1978 WSU has been DI in football. There is I-A and I-AA. But now it has been changed once again, lol, and now is Div I FBS and Div I FCS. Just to make it more confusing!

Football classifications:
1962-1972 NCAA College Division (Small College)
1973-1977 NCAA Division II
1978-20XX NCAA Division I-AA

All other sports its just DI.

FBS: football bowl series
FCS: football championship series aka playoffs

Hope this helps...

I was a student at WSU before I found out we weren't DII in football.

I understand the FBS and FCS for football, but what i'm getting at is the chance you guys get to play in the NCAA March Madness.

That isn't a possiblity on the FB side, there is no way you'd see Weber in a FBS Bowl game as a FCS School.

We played in March Madness 2 years ago and got our doors blown off by UCLA. But we do have wins against some of the "power house" teams in the NCAA BB tourney. For example, Michigan State and North Carolina. :D

ya i guess we could move up to fbs to the wac if we had better support and $$. i do know u need 15K aveage home attendance.

we are in a good location. We have the facilities even or are close...

NCAA Tourney...its what i love most!! WSU has made 14 trips out of its 18 Big Sky titles. WSU has the 24th highest winning % in NCAA Div I history. Our program is 47 yrs old.

Utah's most recent wins:

Utah 2005 or was it 2006?
Utah St 2001
Weber 1999
BYU 1993
SUU never
UVU never been...yet.

Big Z welcome to the forum!!!

This might be a great time to get both, football and basketball, season tickets. Not only is the football team returning a number of starters and stars, but also the basketball team, on top of having one of the best recruiting classes this decade.

As for the fans...There aren't a lot, but they are loyal. Whats been hurting our attendance has been our students. Not since I was at student, has student attendance been even considered adequate. Hopefully things start changing this year. I don't understand why they don't come...its FREE!! However, the crazies are starting to return, that is going to help out a ton...

If we do go with season tickets, it would mainly depend on what the U away schedule looks like. I've been a season ticket holder down there closing on 10 years now. But for Basketball that is a different story, there are too many games to commute down to SLC twice a week for. Plus i've never seen a live Weber Game, was it last season you guys played the U up in Ogden?

No, we played the U in both Football and Basketball in SLC. This year they will be making the trip to Ogden to play us in Basketball. I hope we beat them by 10+. I don't really care for the basket ball coach down there.

i graduated from weber and now am gonig to the U for another degree. I'm a big fan of both schools football and hoops. i think Boylen seems alright. but he doesn't compare to coach Rahe. Rahe is the Wizard of Weber.

Also when utah played weber last year in football. I found myself cheering for Weber.
