Seats warming up for FCS coaches list

There has been on going chatter about this in the New Transers thread, which was hi-jacked by this chatter. This deserves a thread of it's own. TSN.com put out a list of FCS coaches who's seats are starting to warm up. Sperbeck is listed.

The Big Sky program that can't seem to get over the hump is Sacramento State, where coach Marshall Sperbeck is 24-32 through five seasons. Even wins over Oregon State and Montana didn't prevent a fall to 4-7 last year, and Sperbeck is hearing his critics.

I am one of the critics. :coffee:

One of the highest budgets in the BSC
One of the nicest facilities in BSC
Fertile recruiting ground where FBS programs pluck regularly

There is absolutely no reason why Sac State shouldn't regularly pump out 7-4 seasons.

Yup, pretty much sums it up.

Although I'd like to see specific football budget numbers. Sure out athletic budget as a whole is higher but we sponsor 20 sports whereas most of our BSC counterparts sponsor the FCS minimum.

Here are the football budgets of BSC teams according to the government.

Sac State $2.7M
CP $2.9M
UCFE $3.0M
PSU $3.3M
EWU $2.9
ISU $2.6M
UM $5.0M
MSU $4.6M
Weber $2.6M
SUU $1.9M
NAU $2.6M
UNC $2.5M

So Sac's football budget is low considering our student population. It appears UM/MSU are gearing up for FBS football with budgets that are already FBS level. I guess tuition and MSU's high out of state players might skew the numbers for the two schools.

Interesting, it does put things in perspective. Is there a link to these figures?

Interesting...and if you reorder based on how the teams finished in terms of Wins and Losses last year, it looks like we need to spend another 300k to garuntee a winning season :D Maybe we should have moved to the Great West instead of them coming here...looks like we could win more games with a budget under $2M... :dunce:

Big Sky
(11-3) UM $5.0M
(10-3) MSU $4.6M
(7-4) PSU $3.3M
(6-5) EWU $2.9M
(5-6) Webber $2.6M
(4-7) NAU $2.6M
(4-7) Sac St $2.7M
(2-9) ISU $2.6M

Great West
(8-3) UNC $2.5M
(6-5) SUU $1.9M
(6-5) CP $2.9M
(4-7) UCFE $3.0M
