I'm not surprised. In fact, I'll betca that the the owners and city will reach an agreement to end the lease a year early and the NBA will approve a move to Oklahoma City where I am before the 2007-08 since nobody wants a lame duck season there.

BTW, I think it's a bad move. After the novelty wears off after 2-3 seasons, attendance here will drop.

Just heard about this. I'm still not sold on them moving to OKC for obvious reasons. I wonder what all the options are for them in regards to city's they may move to??? Hmm...

I'm sold they are. The owners ARE from Oklahoma City.

Okay, now that may be the only thing to get them to move them to OKC!

The question will be, will they be able to support an NBA team down there? It will be interesting indeed...

They definitely can support an NBA team. They fill the arena for almost every event. The only question is if the fans will stay attached to the Hornets, or become Sonics fans (or whatever they change their name to.)

Honestly, I doubt it long-term wise. Shirt-term the Sonics WILL make a profit here due to the new novelty. But after that wears off.....

Latest news:

Clay Bennett mentioned Las Vegas over Oklahoma City... before backtracking.

I'll put it to you this way: Bennett's number 1 choice for a market is Seattle.

That's not his first PRIORITY, however. The first priority is a rent free building with maximum revenue potential controlled by the Sonics. Key Arena isn't it. Oklahoma City has a newer arena with too few luxury suites. The money in Las Vegas does not respect the idea of the city funding an arena when the casinos already build them... and the casinos seem to cap their arenas at about 11,000 capacity for a reason (or a few million reasons).

Bennett will leverage everyone against everyone before this is all over.

The OKC fish wrap is convinced beyond ALL doubt he'll move the franchise to OKC.

Safe bet they won't. David Stern will make sure of that.
