Shantay Legans

Really impressed with his first year. He gets his kids to play HARD, and you can tell this is a team that has improved over the course of the year. I hear that the people around the athletic department think very highly of him. Kind of the complete opposite personality of Hayford. He saw me and my kid wearing Eastern gear at a game before tip-off and came over and chatted with us; he obviously gets the PR side of the game as well.

The unfortunate part is that he has no ties to Cheney. And a quality young coach with a playing background is likely going to find himself upwardly mobile in a short amount of time. I'll enjoy him while I can.

Dopa, entire staff has done really good especially overcoming that wicked preseason schedule convincing team they are in fact good. Associate Head Coach Nick Booker has some serious cred. Not sure if Legans knew him before hiring him but he's Head Coach material.

I am of the impression most of our coaches liked working for Chaves. The new AD may have an impact on longevity of staff.

He should be the coach of the year. The EAGS were picked to finish 7th in the league. He has squeezed more effort and improvement out of this team compared to any other coach in the league. He simply outcoached the Montana coach.

These are my thoughts as well.

having a good boss helps in any job. The unfortunate part about being at our level is that we're never going to be able to match salaries with a major program. I'd think $250k is about the absolute max we could pay a football coach and basketball is likely $200k. Most Pac-12 programs make that looks like chump change. It's just our reality. But I'd rather have a quality young coach that is making big moves than some lifer who just sends out mediocre teams every season.

Don't catch a falling knife

I was on a flight to Burbank a few weeks ago where Coach Hayford sat a row behind me. Said Coach L will do great at EWU. Have to say I've been impressed so far and my initial concerns were unfounded.

Big question now is recruiting.

Boy his hair was on fire last night! Well if he had hair
We were sitting behind the Eag bench and he was all over the players and coach Booker, for what I don't know but it went on most of the game. I guess it just his passion for excellence and the game. IMO he is just what the Eagles need right now.

You guys got a good one with Legans.

Not going to expand on that much other than you can see it in the fire he shows on the sidelines and with his interactions with the players. This isn't the "Ima yell and scream at everything and make my players scared to make a mistake" fire that Fish has at MSU. This is a different type of fire...the fire that builds a damn good team and gets recruits hooked on what's being built.

Don't be disappointed with the results this year. Much like DeCuire's first year you guys were picked to finish middle/low-middle of the Big Sky and finished MUCH higher and competed for the NCAA tournament bid. If he's as good of a recruiter as he is a coach you guys will have a good one until he gets snatched up by some PAC-12 team.

Hang on to him as long as you can. I have a feeling he'll be a hot commodity in a few years for big time programs.

I'm sure coach isn't feeling to hot after the last 2 games, but I hope he's proud of what was accomplished during his first season. There is a ton to build on going into the off season!

It'll be interesting to see where the team goes without Bliznyuk. He was such the focal point of everything the team did this season that it's going to require a complete change of styles to make up for him being gone. If the team continues to do well next season, that's a huge feather is Legans' cap.

Jacob Davison is the future. Not sure if he's Tyler Harvey good, but he's good enough to build an offense around.
