Anyone know what's the deal with all of our players missing? I assume it's COVID-related, but possibly due to travel issues in the NW following the recent weather.

Glad to see us beat Portland State. They were also down a few guys. It was an ugly game where neither team could shoot to save their lives, but we played hard for the entire game and got the road win.

Yeah it was covid related. Watched the game and listened to Larry who sounded pretty rough. He said he was tested the day before and hadnt recieved his test result yet. We were missing think 5 maybe 4 one starter. PSU was missing their 3 leading scorers so we should have won and did. They are a capable team that seems to show signs of brillance then can't hit squat and make silly mistakes. We could be really good come playoff time. covid sucks
*Play NAU at 1pm today there and EWU played just 8 players last game so in that enviroment at that elevation if thats all we have to play could be a long game.

EAGS sweep PSU and NAU on the road.

Montana is coming to Cheney this Thursday. Will be a solid win over UM. They don't match up well against the EAGS bigger, more athletic team. Those short, pudgy UM guards are gonna get dominated by the EAGS. :D :D

I haven't seen Montana play this year, so I don't know what they bring. I know it would be really nice to have a few more players at our disposal. We only played 9 guys across 2 games in the previous two wins.

Curious how this game evolves should be a good one at 6pm. Montana favored by 2.5...Both have played one common oppenent North Dakota...EWU beat them 76-60 while Montana lost to them 79-77. Got my$$ on EWU tonight...Go Eagles!

3rd game I have gotten to watch and by far the worst of the 3.

Doesn't help when you start the game going scoreless in the 1st 6 minutes....Mr. GrizWald I would not be pumping my chest too much ...no one besides Beasly looked like they wanted to shoot the ball...going to be a long year for both teams if the can't figure things out. EWU's offense looked horrific in the first half. I felt like the Eags needed one of those reverse beepers on them as they would get the ball up high and then with their back to the basket and a man on their back just back up the truck and then take a horrible shot. I get size match ups but don't have everyone stand around at the top of the key waiting for a pass ...MAKE CUTS plus there is no one to rebound.
Magnuson needs to start taking shots. He goes for the sexy passes too much. If he is going to be a guard he needs to be a threat...1 shot....1 shot...really??? He showed his freshman year he can get to the hoop.

Far from chest pumping, as I agree it was not a complete game by either team. I was just responding to a post from a fan who clearly doesn't understand the game of college basketball. The starting UM guards (you know, those fat slobs who were going to get dominated?) each put up 19, and the three fat backups put up 9, 6 and 5, along with too many assists to count.

But I appreciate the opportunity to discuss basketball with someone who gets it, so thanks for your reply. So I'm curious about the bolded part of your post. UM had 4 players in double figures and another with 9. That seems like fairly balanced scoring, no? Why did it appear only Beasley wanted to shoot?

I agree that the guards had a good night scoring.....Whitney probably could have scored a lot more if he had taken more shots but your claim about "too many assists to count" is a bit rich....Is 6 too many to count? That 6 was spread around through all your guards....

There was a lot of wide open opportunities that got passed up...especially in the first half...it was almost like UM coach had said you HAVE to pass the ball at least 6 times before anyone can shoot. I get moving the ball around especially in the zone can tire out the D somewhat. Too many extra passes that were not necessary. Beasley was the only one who seemed to shoot the rock up. I hate the zone with a passion. Lazy defense in my book.

This happens occasionally in UM's offense, and it frustrates GRIZ fans sometimes as well, although I don't remember too many obvious cases last night. But that's been TDC's philosophy since he took the job: play unselfish basketball and give up a good look to get a great one. Often it works; sometimes it doesn't. But when your team doesn't turn the ball over (second in the nation in turnover to possession ratio, plays very good defense (top 50 in the nation in scoring D), and hits your FTs (second in the nation in FT percentage), I think Travis prefers a few empty possessions to jacking up a shot early in the shot clock.

That makes sense. I hate early shots as well,...especially the missed ones:-) FT's are so huge very under rated. Not sure I would want a empty possession though but his track record speaks for itself.

Well touché. I missed the game. Sounds like those fat, short UM guards played well above their talent level. I guess we will see how the rest of the season evolves. I look forward to learning from your vast knowledge of the game.
