I think you're right, jmb. It's sounding like he has an issue with the capability of ANY woman to coach sports. Well, how would you like a female to coach male athletes? It's already happened. There was a HS in the Sac area that hired a woman to coach the boys' soccer team. And there was an ABA team just a couple of years ago that hired a girl who had just graduated from the Vandy program, and she got them a playoff berth. (Though internecine ownership squabbles led to both the turning down of the bid and her subsequent resignation.)

Women can play. Women can coach. There may be some that whomp. But to whitewash the entire gender is just plain ludicrous. Not only is that unfair to women, it also ignores the MANY males who whomp. I think it's safe to say we'll never have Abatemarco back....

The record is more a case of the situation than Craighead being a great coach. If Dan was here, the team would have the same record.

With this view, it doesn't matter what she does. Sac State is a school that gives coaches many reasons to use excuses. I can't believe we are in situation where a coach is showing a degree of success and you would actually want to make an excuse as to why she is doing well. The bottom line is that she has the team performing and winning games. Any other coach we look at will not have a track record of success at the DI level. I say extend her contract.

Your post shows, just how low our program has become. We consider success a coach winning 10 games?

Not making excuses for her "success" but she would have had to win 20 games to make me say she can take this team to another level.

The question should be do we have a coach who can win the Big Sky. Craighead isn't that coach.

Read closely moron. I stated the coach is showing a degree of success. It is clear you have an axe to grind with this coach and it must kill you that she is well on her way to getting an extension.

Nice for you to resort to name calling. Winning 10 games isn't any "degree" of success for somebody with a clue. You're a moron who is Coach Craighead's lover or Coach Craighead, herself.

Good read GCM. From the article, it seems like the women play a style similar to how the men played a few years ago. It looks like that high tempo style of play resulting in some success is only a coincidence though...

I'm not sure dwelling on what may or may not have happened is doing anybody any good. I'll bet Coach Muscatell is enjoying the success of this team - kids he recruited and a coach he helped to mentor.

Anybody who has followed the history of this program should be overjoyed by these 10 wins and a seven game winning streak - it represents the most productive stretch in our Division I history ...

I'll also go out on a limb and say I'm sure coach and team are not "satisfied" ... but they should certainly be rewarded and applauded!!!!!
