Signed Recruiting Class

If Rahe is able to sign Collette in the Spring, that will be the icing on top of the Cake. He would be a huge addition to the program in three years once he finishes his mission. If I was him, I'd sign with Weber right now. Granted, he does have USU looking at him, but nobody has offered except Weber.

Collette just verballed to the Aggies.

Thanks for the update George always nice to hear from ya. What did you think about the recruiting analysis on the instate schools? Please correct me if I got anything wrong with the Ags.

Anyway, I see Collette being another possible Sol Jensen (I could be wrong). He will go on his mish, come back, redshirt, not be good enough, go to a JC, be decent in the JUCO ranks and end up at another DI/DII school (UVU or Dixie). In the end I think he'll pan out, but he isn't a stellar pick up. A decent one at most. However, yes, I would have liked him to have signed with Weber, for depth, and who knows, he might end up being another Morgan Grimm, but...All I can do now is wish him Good Luck in his future career.

I might be wrong, but I think Weber pulled his offer.

If you didn't already know, Weber recruit Mike Brown's Wasatch High won their second straight 3A State Championship, and Mike was named the 3A Tournament MVP for the second straight year. Mike scored a game-high 18 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in the championship game. He averaged 15.8 points over his four tournament games, and averaged 19.6 points per game for the year. This kid is a winner and will be a great addition to the team.

I have never understood the excitement to play UVU around here.

Next years home schedule should be better with
Utah
Utah St.
SUU
bracketbuster return
possibly Tulsa
Villanova

Is Utah still doing a home-and-home with Weber now that they are in the Pac 12?
Also Villanova? Really?

You mind posting a link or source for the Villanova game?

Why didn't Weber go after Ben Aired he is playing for UVU and wasting his talent in Orem. He needs to transfer. He had a hell of a great year, so did Colton Hunsaker and they are both freshmen. Dumb that anyone good would go there.

Mike Brown has been named 3A MVP by both the Salt Lake Tribune and Deseret News.

Its pretty amazing knowing that Weber has the best 2011 player in Utah signed.
Well, the Deseret News thinks that Tyrell Corbin is the best 2011 basketball player in the state. But I think you are right. A little known fact... Mike Brown has played against Corbin twice head to head in the Intermountain Hoops Fall recruiting showcase (2008 and 2009) and owned him both times. All around, defense, shooting percentage, steals, assists, length, size (Mike is 4 inches taller), strength, Mike Brown is better. Corbin couldn't score on Mike Brown, couldn't shoot over him, couldn't get by him, while Mike scored 15 to 17 in the Fall classic games.

UVU game is still a few years out. It is too bad we have not played them since 2005 as they are only 70 miles away.
Why in the world would we want to play a series with UVU.....especially with such a talented team on paper? Their RPI would kill ours, not to mention our strength of schedule rating. We need to give up those home games and play a pier conference school on the road. A close loss at Arizona like we had during 2009-2010, is better than a home win against UVU.

The spring signing period starts after midnight tonight and goes for a week or so. Now that the coaching carosel has slowed way down, and kids are transferring all over the place, don't be surprised if we bring in a transfer. There are always a ton of players kicking around this time of year. Some are very good and some are not. Two players that just showed up at our door, in years past, were Stan Rose, and Rico Washigton. I think we got Solbodon Osocolic that way as well. Actually, this kind of thing can happen all summer long.

I'm not saying I don't believe you, but as of right now there aren't any available scholarships. So, who isn't coming back? Do you have a list of potential JC's? Oh, wait, you said transfer. Okay, that makes sense. I could see Weber bringing in a transfer, since he has to sit for a year he would be able to claim an open scholie next year. The transfer would have to be pretty dang good too. I'm thinking Coach is looking for a wing to transfer.

However, you are right about players falling into our laps. Gelaun Wheelright should be added to that list.

I read this in the SL trib today... BYU has offered former UNCO Cub Hauns Brereton. Not that it matters to Weber really, but kinda a nice step, considering he really didn't do much as a Fresh at UNCO.
