Signing Day 2013

So what was the final count, 25 or 26? Love Sear's enthusiasm, just need to start producing on the field now. At the signing party he said by Sunday we should know who the new OC is going to be :thumb:

Final count is officially 25. 2 back from missions, 2 JC xfers, and 21 HS signings. 7 are expected to serve missions. Not a bad signing day.

Here's SUU's recruiting class. 8 of our guys are from Utah, while 6 of their recruits are not from Utah. :coffee: Not that that means anything... I just found it interesting.

Number of conference signees from Utah:
SUU - 18
WSU - 8
ISU - 1 [QB James Delacenserie, Park City (Wasatch HS)]
UM - 1 [OL Cameron Rokich, West Jordan (Juan Diego)]

Interesting that Montana signed a recruit from Utah. Not usually a place they seem to recruit much. Wonder if Weber recruited him?

Big News..............according to coach last night, 2013 will be the last year that we play 2 FBS teams. The money game we will be playing in 2014 is either Arizona or Arizona State. Finally we get to add another FCS team to the schedule and have a much better chance at going to the playoffs!!

Now we wait and see if this will actually come to pass.........

Top of Utah recruits that signed with SUU:
DL Collin Greenhill, Layton (Layton Christian HS)
LB Mason Woodward, Syracuse (Syracuse HS)

Southern Utah recruits that signed with WSU:
QB Blake Barney, St George (Dixie HS)

Any word on new OC, or any other new coaches?

Pflugrad

two straight ex-montana coaches......................how long till this one leaves to?

Much different than Rosenbach's situation - and Coach Pflu is definitely a much better, much more experienced 'big-time' coach. Good get by Coach Sears! Like Lewis becoming DC also - he's been a DC before, and this will free up Sears to look over all parts of the team.

Great Hires!!!!! Love it :thumb:

Pflu isn't just a great coach, but he is a excellent recruiter. He knows how to get the personnel for the offense he wants to run. I'm thinking the Cats are gearing up to make a run in the future. Go Weber!!

Fine & dandy with me...but hope that a clause is in the OC contract that he stays at least 1 football season or is penalized some salary. Reality tells me that a former HC isn't going to be content staying on as an FCS program asst. coach for long if he's any good...he'll keep his eye's & ear's open for a step up again. Meantime I hope Sears & Weber State football get their money's worth out of the new OC & DC. It's Sears' rodeo for 3 yrs and I'm glad he will be HC only. If it's a BUST, then clear the slate & start anew...& then I would hope that the AD considers eagerness, energy & drive from a successful young coach at a lower level counts just as much or more than "big time" experience from a coach landing downhill !! :twocents:
