Sirens back to their winning ways....

The Sacramento Sirens travelled to Corvallis and shut out the Pride 48-0. There is no further word on the game.

Next game (last one in the regular season) is 13 Jun against the undefeated LA Amazons. The Amazons have surrendered a grand total of 23 points in seven games so far this year, including a whopping FIVE shutouts. The California Quake (Long Beach) are the only team to score on the Amazons, losing 32-2 on opening day and then 36-21 on 2 May. Since then, LA has shut out the SoCal Breakers twice (42-0 and 33-0) and taken down the expansion Modesto Maniax 64-0 and New Mexico Menace 50-0. Last week, they shut out the Tucson Monsoon 57-0. The Sirens are two games behind LA in the Pacific Southwest Division, so a win is imperative. Sac cannot win the division. Sac will get a wild card with a win and a Kansas City Tribe loss to the Minnesota Vixen on 13 Jun; it appears that KC's 6 Jun game vs. the Wisconsin Warriors won't count for playoff purposes because that is a Tier 2 game. It doesn't look good because KC blew out Minnesota on opening day, and even if Wisconsin counts, they were shut out by KC 9 May. Sac's game against LA may well prove to be a season ender regardless.

Just picked up stats for the Sirens' incredible 48-0 shellacking of Corvallis. Incredibly, if the stat sheet is to be believed, Sac didn't even punt once.

Wingback/safety Amy Williams led the way with 13 carries for 157 yards and two TDs. One carry covered more than 40 yards. On defense, Williams forced a fumble and made four tackles. On the other side of the formation, WB Ashlee Sharp contributed 60 yards and a TD on 10 rushes. Sharp also caught a pass for 22 and returned four Pride punts for 11 yards. Fullback Jennie Ann Quan racked up 119 yards and 3 TDs on 17 carries; Quan also contributed a two-point conversion rush. The quarterbacks had a relatively modest day through the air. Chantelle Powers was pretty accurate, going 6-7 for 45 yards and a pick; Powers picked up another 11 yards on a rush. Amber Mitchell came in and was fairly efficient as usual, going 3-6 through the air for 39 yards with her first interception of the year.

Come on out for the last home game of the year 13 Jun vs. LA. I have some spare tix, so hit me up if you want to get in free.
