Sirens Season Update

I just found stats updated as of 02 May. As I described before, the Sirens are a run-first team, but this year you better watch out for the pass. The pop pass (which isn't usually seen after Pop Warner or HS at the latest) and the K route are being used to some success. Or, they were early. I've accumulated stats for both QBs and the wing backs. The huge fullback has been stellar. Here goes:

QB Chantelle Powers opened the season in Modesto with a 4-7-101 and 3 TD performance. Reserve QB Amber Mitchell contributed 19 yards and a TD on four carries. Through 5/2, the pass has been used sparingly, though Powers was 4-9-23 and a TD vs. Corvallis in Sac. Mitchell got a TD through the air in the route of California (Long Beach) at home.

Two-way stars Amy Williams and Ashlee Sharp have been part of a three-woman wrecking crew with FB Jennie Ann Quan all season long. Williams has accumulated 199 yards on 30 carries for two TDs in addition to her 44 yards on 6 receptions for two scores. Sharp has been nothing short of phenomenal, going 29-254 and 6 TDs on the ground and adding 172 yards on 6 punt returns for another 2 TDs. Sharp has also tallied a 35-yard INT return from her free safety spot and added a 2-point conversion rush. Quan has contributed 5 rushing TDs in her 420 yards. Quan is averaging over 9.5 yards a rush, partially due to the fact that she's so big that nobody can tackle her solo. Sharp is averaging 8.76 per carry, and Williams a "paltry" 6.63.

Given a full-house backfield like this, is it any wonder that the Sirens have been crushing opponents by insane margins? Wow!

Next game is Saturday night at 6 PM. Natomas High School, 3301 Fong Ranch Road off of I-80. Hosting the Pac-NW Division leading Seattle Majestics to avenge the one loss this season.
