Sixth Man shirt? and where are the D.A.M.N. students?

Back in the good ole days, back when I was a student and we had a loud student section, we had what we call a Sixth Man shirt. When I graduated people got other ideas. Sixth Man shirts continued the year after I graduated and then it stopped. Who's bright idea was it to have the "C'RAHE'ZIES" shirt. While it was cute and all, they didn't sell well. But the Sixth Man shirt DIED!!! And so did the Purple Pak. While they are loud some games, they just stand there others. Why can't it be the way it used to be? What happened to OUR STUDENT SECTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Crahezie shirts were my idea...they were supposed to be really simple and clear to see, a lot like the "Beat State" shirts you see at other schools. Never materialized as to what I wanted. I would love to give them another chance. As far as the Purple Pak, I have heard the new advisor wants to focus on the Student Alumni side of the organization. I don't know why they didn't do a 6th man shirt this year...

I do not ever recall WSU having that great of a student section. Even during the Cravens era, when most posters on here were students, it was never anything to brag about. I think in recent years it has been better attended by students than in the past 10 years or so.

I remember the year when we beat NAU in the BSC championship with The Show and Gill, that crowd was huge and there was a lot of students, I was a lot younger then, but I was sitting on the opposite side of the students and it was full, I can still see it to this day.

The problem is, Weber is getting more national attention than they are statewide attention, the state media has refused to cover Weber State, they must hate the fact that Weber is stealing the show here in Utah this year. If people in Utah knew what was going on, here at Weber, I would be willing to bet our crowds would increase in size.

Apparently, It doesnt matter if we are better than everyone else in the state, we will always be the little guy as long as the local media treats us that way. AND until Weber decides to do something about it

agreed. it is good right now. i was a senior in 2006 when we went 10-17 and 4-10 in big sky. the front row of the student section was basically me, bengalhater, talhad and 2-3 others. that was it. rows 2 through-20 were empty.

but the coach did get fired, we lost at home to psu and sac for the first time ever to either. we didnt make the big sky tourney which ended a 24 yr run - yikes - weber not in the conf tourney? :yikes:

I have been to all of the big sky tournaments at home since 1995... I may have been small, but I remember that the arcenaux and gill year they went dancing, 1998-1999, there was a large student section, however official attendance a was only like 9500.. In 02-03 it was also like 9k right? The students always seem to get out and supper the team when the game is on espn and its the championship game... Even at rahes first season, i think the championship game only had 7-8k... But the students were in good numbers....

I'm confused, the first game I went to was the 2007 bigsky tourny game against PSU and the section was empty. A lot of people put in a lot of time cheering in 2008 and 2009 to build it up to where it is and now. Our student sections are legit, ask coach Rahe, ask the players. One problem I do see is bigskytv does not capture how loud the stadium is when your watching it. I think the only audio is from Carl's microphone. That needs to change so fans and potential players know how loud the area is. Also, where the heck is our tab on KSL? All I can say is a student section seems a lot louder when your in it. We have so many new students in the section that not everyone cheers all the time, but that happens anywhere. Don't worry, if the game is on the line we will get them loud!!!

I'm very proud of what the student leaders accomplished in 02-03. First, there were a number of bus trips that year (to USU; there is still 2.5 seconds left with the game tied idiots of lolgan screwed us over; MSU, and the NCAA tourney), which rarely, if ever happened before. Next, the student section was completely full for the semi-final and championship games and they were all in purple (11k were at the championship). And finally, it was an extremely loud section. These things could happen again but it would take effort and work to do them. I spent a lot of time with bengalhater, catcat, and a lot of athletes, Greeks (yes, there actually were fraternity's and sororitys at Weber. Kinda sad it's dead. Greeks were some of the best and most loyal fans.), and other student leaders at the bell tower and around campus that spring. Best semester of my life!!! I loved every min of it. And the student body responded. Best section that I've ever seen or been a part of.

I'm not to worried about the students. I wish the section was full and continuously loud but for the most part it is a lot better than it was in 06-07, and that was a championship team. However, with some effort and Wsusa, sac, and saa support think how much better it could be?

The only coverage we get on KSL is when they copy and paste the game summary from espn. ever notice how they are exactly the same? and the only articles on lillard have been when they compare him to jimmer. its pathetic.
I talked to a camera guy in the elevator at a football game this year and I asked him where our page was on ksl and he informed me he was a WSU grad and he had tried many times to get one put up. He said they didnt even say we will talk about it, it was just shot down. Ksl SUCKS!
