Greetings Eagles fans,

This is Colter Nuanez. I am the director of creativity and senior writer for Skyline Sports (skylinesportsmt.com), a new newspaper-style online publication covering the Big Sky Conference. I've covered the league as a newspaper sportswriter since 2006. You can read more about me here: http://skylinesportsmt.com/about-us/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

With our new endeavor, we will have beat reporting on Montana State along with weekly podcasts and features about the the Big Sky. I just wanted to introduce myself and let you know I'll be providing Eastern Washington features and coverage throughout the season.

Our goal is to be able to cover the entire league with the same prevalence as we give to the flagship schools. Any interest we can get going at EWU would be a huge plus. Thanks for reading, nice to meet you and don't hesitate to drop a line with comments or questions.

EWU will get the most coverage of any school outside of Montana State up until the showdown in Cheney between the Eagles and the Bobcats so please check back.

For those of you that are interested in reading or listening to coverage of the rest of the league, here's some more stories from around the league. Thanks again!

Good stuff Colter, have been reading your contributions for some time now and you are good(very objective). Thanks!

I've never heard of this site, but I've already read two articles and am addicted. This is great. Thanks for stopping by and spreading the word about your site. I love how much insight you guys are able to pull from coaches and staff all around the big sky, that is almost unprecedented, I feel like. It also gives the reader a strong sense of pride in both the BSC and the FCS. Looking forward to reading more. Thanks again!

Colter, this is an excellent article. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Really good article. Can't wait to read more. Also loved this quote:

“Jordan’s style is he has a straight NFL arm and everything follows,” Hill said. “His arm is so big. He can make any throw on the field. Since he stepped on campus, he’s always had a gun. His accuracy is great and he’s real calm. We will make him feel more comfortable than he already does.”

Saw that, as well as some other interesting quotes from some of the players...particularly Clay Debord. I liked this quote from the 'unbalanced schedule" article. Coach Kramer just tells it like it is.

The size of the conference should provide us with a stronger presence in the playoffs until we start playing better defense. And that is a personnel issue in our conference across the board at defensive line. And that’s not going to get solved because there are no big guys who run fast who are mean in the West. We do not have those guys in the West. Even in the Pac 12. The Pac 12 has a very strong dearth of defensive lineman. It’s what precludes the Pac 12 from being the preeminent conference in the nation because they have no defensive linemen, big guys who run fast who are willing to submit to the toughness and meanness to play that position. The lifestyle doesn’t exist in the West.

:lol: :D

This week I'll have a podcast featuring all the EWU interviews I'm doing this week — Clay DeBord, Aaron Neary, Aaron Best, Jeff Schmedding, Cooper Kupp, Miquiyah Zamora and Beau Baldwin. I'll have matchup stories about EWU's defense against MSU's offense and MSU's offense against EWU's defense. I'll have features on several things, ranging from playing left tackle in the Big Sky as a four-year starter to several MSU coaches profiles to a fun story on the fastest and strongest players in the Big Sky.

A teaser for how Eastern Washington approaches this game:

“It’s always one of the best games when we play Montana State,” Eastern Washington senior left tackle Clay DeBord said. “They don’t like us, we don’t like them. It’s like the Griz game. But we really don’t like Montaa State. There’s a lot of trash talking that goes on and it's fun. We will see how it comes out.

“I really expect us to get our first win of the season this weekend. I know (Montana State quarterback Dakota) Prukop, he’s a good player and they have a good offense out there. But I have full confidence in our guys and I think we are going to put up a lot of points and come out with a W this weekend.”
