I hope he wants the job. An alum applying with a proven track record!!! Have we ever had an alum as a coach in football? I 100% support John L to Weber!

How many former big east and big ten coaches are out there that are current wsu grid iron club members? He was part of our 1965 big sky title team.

According to the Wikipedia article on John L., he has ran with the bulls in Spain, gone skydiving, flown fighter jets, etc.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_L._Smith Gotta like a guy with that kind of spunk and guts.

Sounds like we have a lot of good candidates - it will be interesting to see who is announced as the head coach. Thus far, I like John L., Baldwin, and Eck as my top guys. I have no idea who will come out on top, but any of these 3 would be good.

My guess is we will know within the next 3-4 days (just a guess on my part). It makes sense to make an announcement BEFORE the current players head home. Classes end this Friday and I am sure the new coach will want to meet the players and keep them here.

A linebacker and a quarterback at Weber State, Smith earned Big Sky Conference scholar-athlete honors in 1971-72. He received his undergraduate degree in physical education with a minor in math in 1971. Smith earned a master's of science degree in physical education from the University of Montana in 1974.

Smith lettered in three sports - football, basketball and track - while attending Bonneville High School in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He is married to the former Diana Flora. They are parents of three children, Nicholas, Kayse and Sam.

They really may want to give John L a good hard look. This guy knows the school, the area, the conference, the game, dude sure knows how to win. While at USU he knew that Boise was the key to winning their conference so he designed a team to beat Boise, they did 2 out of 3 years he was there, kind of like Mcbride did at Utah beating BYU . This could be the guy that gets us over the Monatana hills. He is probably a lot more stable at age 63 than when he hired on in Logan, not so much into building a resume as the younger coaches are. Doubt we would ever doubt his loyalty, a graduate? never.
