SMALL BALL. How tall is Ethan Telfair?

Ethan Telfair is 5'10".... NOT 6'0"! What/Why is the old tradition of fluffing a basketball players height? It's been going on for decades, and I personally don't get it. I mean I'm not an idiot, I understand that other players see rosters and maybe the BIGS see the other guy is taller then them and it strikes at their confidence. (Novak Topalovic is a TRUE 7'0", why not list him at 7'2") BUT eventually the game starts and everyone is sized up. Now in the information age everyone knows everything about everyone before the first time they play.

Ethan Telfair is AMAZING! I LOVE THE GUY!!! He is a fighter, he works extreamly hard, and has become a great inspired leader by fighting through his adversities and being focused on his greatness to come, and most importantly making those around him great as well.

Now, Ethan comes from NBA basketball lineage. His cousin Stephon Marbury was 6'2". His brother Sebastian Telfair was 6'0". Ethan Telfair is 5'10". Let the lineage go where the pattern is taking us! I personally think the fact of him being 5'10" makes him more special and amazing. The way he can split defenders, and stay "in control" then bank the lay-up in off the tip top part of the glass is a thing of beauty. And how he can be dribbling outside the arch and then in a split second be elevated and shooting a 3-ball over the taller defender because of his speed is awesome!!!
Can we just let Ethan be 5'10" now? (He's great at just being who he is.) :notworthy:

I'd say he's closer to 5-8 or 5-9, but if they really want to mess with opponents' heads they should list him as 6-9. -:)
BTW, When Herb Williams was ISU coach he told me his standard practice was to measure every player in tennis shoes, then add an inch and a half.

One other height-related note: Jeff Solarin was probably really about 6-21/2, which made his rebounding prowess even more amazing.

That's funny that Herb Williams exaggerated that much. Makes me laugh.
And you are correct about Jeff Solarin... If memory serves me correctly he averaged 10 rebounds a game!

I wondered if it's Bill Evans fluffing the height or Ethan. I notice Brandon Boyd is listed as 5'11" and he's taller than Ethan. So I don't know if it's Bill Evans making the call.

BTW. I love seeing how much of a cheerleader and excited Brandon Boyd stays on the bench as he takes a medical year off. Good attitude in that kid.

He's big enough to get a lot of his team mates a lot of points. Finally, ISU is creating defensive problems for other teams, and we have enough other players who can score to make it all work. Not bad for a team who had last place locked up in pre-season polls by more than 40 points by both coaches and media. Gotta be satisfying feeling for Coach Bill and his staff as well as players.
