Some board material

To the Eagle fans who commented about the article, I believe you misunderstand the intent of the statement and the actual wording. I was present when KC spoke and it was a reminder to his players that this type of opportunity comes along maybe once in a lifetime and to take advantage of it by doing everything in your power to win so that no one can take that away from you. Keeler and all of the players have the utmost respect for what your team has accomplished and have heaped praise on them and the challenge they present to our program. Of course our fans believe and hope we will win and I am sure you feel the same way. Don't read more into it then is there and it is certainly not bulletin board material. May the best team win and GO HENS

Henduster,

You may be right about the intent of Coach Keeler when he made the comments. I couldn't say whether or not his intentions were as you say they are or if he was in fact acting supremely arrogant, I wasn't present when uttered the words. Let's say for the sake of argument you're right, he was simply trying to motivate his team. I can accept your explanation of Keeler's comments.

I believe however that others may have a hard time believing your explanation. This difficulty in believing may come from the perceived arrogance of some UD fans on this forum as well as others. I've seen many posts from fans of the Hens who dismiss the Eagles and the Big Sky Conference as a being second rate despite the fact that they know very little of our team or our conference.

I realize that UD fans believe that the Hens in particular and the CAA in general are better than any other FCS team or conference. They may be right, or as I believe they may be wrong. We will better know the answer only after the NC game.

May the better team win, Go Eags.

Mike

EWU Grad 82;

Thanks for the quick reply and as a constant visitor to the Hens site I can certainly understand your feelings as to some poster's perceived arrogance but some of the tongue in cheek remarks need to be taken with a grain of salt. I think you'll find that most Hen fans are very passionate and knowledgeable about their team. I too occasionally get upset with some of the postings but have learned to dismiss them. Believe me when I say that you'll not find any better folks then true Hen fans and if you have occasion to tailgate with any you'll find them to be most hospitable. Coach Keeler is as gracious in defeat as he is in victory. He always makes it a point to congratulate every opposing player after the game, win or lose and even went into the App State locker room to do so after the Hens got our clocks cleaned in 07. Coach Baldwin seems like a class act as well so it should be a great game

Henduster,

Thanks for explaining the over the top comments made by some UD fans on gohens. I will indeed take take them with a few grains of salt. I'm glad to hear that Coach Keeler is sportsmanlike gentlemen, that sort of behavior is good for all in the FCS.
