Some perspective on the season

- Played the first game of the college season nationally televised on ESPN in front of a sold out crowd more than a month before classes were in session.

- Had a chance late in the game to beat a Pac-12 school for the second year in a row. VA breaks Husky Stadium record for passing TD's in a single game.

- Third straight Big Sky Conference Championship (And second straight out-right title).

- Third straight playoff appearance. 4th in the past 5 years.

- Sold out every regular season home game and broke the single-season record for average attendance at 10,216. First time in school history with over 10,000 regular season average.

- Beat Montana (twice) and MSU to go a combined 7-0 against the Montana schools over the past 3 years. Winners of 5 of the last 6 matchups against Montana. Think about that for a moment.

- Have a finalist for the Walter Payton award for the third time in 4 years.

Is there room for improvement in several areas? Hell yeah. But from where I sit, things are looking pretty damned good.

Thank you for putting this together. And when you add this to the success that men's basketball and other sports are having, it is easy to see why it is truly a "Great Day to be an Eagle".

When I was at Eastern only a few years ago, it was considered a great success to get an at large bid in the playoffs. This program is in a great place and is poised to continue doing great things. I'm fricken proud to be an Eagle.

Here's to a great season. Lots of talent coming back. Can't wait until next year!

Go Eags!!!

It was a very exciting season for sure! The program continues to improve in all facets and I simply cannot wait to do it all again next year!

Yup

Great season that provided lifetime memories for the family, especially my 7 year old who would stand there and high five the team as they came back onto the field to begin the second half! Priceless

Thanks coaches, admin and players

When you consider where we've come from, the attendance, the tailgating tradition that has developed, and the game day experience including video screen, run out, band, etc are truly impressive.

Thanks for the perspective Ranger! :thumb:

kalm,
Glad to have seen you on Saturday, and meeting your son. I agree with you on the perspective on the Season, very well put. We just got a good "Butt Whipping" from the better team on Saturday. Nothing went right for us, maybe that was because of the pressure place on our Defense. We will recover, it is not the end of the world :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: Now we will get ready for Feb. Recruiting Time. Again thanks for the "Perspective of our Team". Jus wait until next year ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) Vic Wallace

Always nice to introduce him to a legend! :notworthy:

I couldn't find the 2015 schedule and didn't have time to look any longer but here is a little information. The "money game" in 2017 is a trip back to Lubbock to play Texas Tech. That is where Beau and many on his staff coached their first game at EWU. Of course Beau was an assistant before he became head coach. I will refrain from commenting regarding who he coached against that day. We lost 49-24 but we were down by just 11 in the 4th quarter. We narrowly lost in Boulder to Colorado the next weekend.

You could tell that day that great things were in our future. This was also the debut for the Johnson twins, two players who fought through various injuries to help take this program to its current level. Zack's interception turned the tide of the game when we were down 21-0 in the first quarter. We trailed by just 11 at the half against the #3 team in the nation at the time. JC, Matt Alfred, Matt Nichols, Aaron Boyce, Ryan Kelley and others, so many great players played that day.

Our AD has added some great home and home match ups and done a good job getting Montana State on our schedule despite the 13 team league and lobsided schedule. Due to geography, we get Montana and Portland State every season. Montana State gets Montana and Weber State. Montana gets us and Montana State. If PSU were to drop football, which is unlikely, not sure how that would affect this arrangement.

Matt Alfred graduated the year before that. I remember almost every play of that game. Still haunts me.

It was a great season. It was fun watching us beat the Montana schools 3 times. That Montana State game gave a me heart attack after heart attack. I look forward to next season and heading to Eugene to watch the Eags take on the Ducks.

When losing in the Quarterfinals is considered a disappointment, it's a sign of just how far this program has come and how high the expectations have become. Looking back, it was another great year full of great memories watching this team. There are always things to improve on, and we'll need to improve in those areas if we want to get back to Frisco. Losing 3 straight years at home in the playoffs stings. But I'm sure it stings the players and coaches more than the fans, so I have no fear that next year, they'll be more than ready for a run at another title!

Eugene is looming.....

BEAT THE DUCKS!!

When I was scanning some photos in, I came across some from the 2009 season (my son's redshirt freshman season) and it was shocking to see the differences-from a muddy, grass field and sparsely populated stands, to some pretty basic uniforms and little tailgating; it was unrecognizable compared to nowadays!

Next step = upgrades and expansion of the facility!
