SOMETHING TO BUILD ON

According the Sagarin ratings from the past season we are ahead of conference foes PSU and ISU. I know it's a stretch but I'm trying to be positive. We ranked 177 out of FBS and FSC schools. PSU is 191 and ISU finished at 198. I know we lost to PSU but we if we played them again we would win 9 times out of 10. We were better. ISU is horrible.

Bottom line is we're getting to where we can compete with likes of EW, NAU, SAC St and MSU. Who knows, maybe a battle for second place will happen next year. We have good coaching on offense now and defense is solid but needs to improve on stopping the run. We have a good deal of seniors playing this fall and no reason we shouldn't compete for that 2nd place. I don't know who will end up taking Montana's place this year but they have a new coaching staff and if anyone is going to stop their streak it needs to happen this year.

The Sagarin ratings are a good sign we're heading in the right direction.

If Montana is not up to their usual domination of the BS it just might be Weber stepping in. If that's the case, I like our chances because we've played Weber tough the past two years. My best guess is that with all the coaching changes around the league the conference is wide open. And I think it will come down to who wants to step up and take it away from Montana.
