Rahe laying on the excuses.... "I wanted to schedule a team (that could beat us). We needed to fight and our guys competed (Uh, nope...). They are veterans and been around forever. They will be very good this year. This is why I scheduled this game, because I knew they were going to be good, this will be our toughest team we see all pre-season. They are a good team, veteran team." "we are playing good teams and we are getting better and improving." "We play a complex system and it doesnt usually come around until December, its a work in progress" What is he talking about... :wtf: :wtf: Only lost one player last year, and James was a non-factor. Lets be real...

I think its more difficult to listen to Rahe than Paul... Can someone explain to me what is so complicated about looking over at flash cards for a "play" and then making a basket? What is so hard about playing man-to-man defense. What is so complicated about breaking a zone or press????

Maybe he just needs to numb down his "Complicated" system and just play ball.... So frustrated... :wall: :wall:

I'm glad I'm not the only one who just :ohno: while listening to Rahe shovel that :shit: post game or even pre game (USU.) I can't take it anymore. I challenge any Rahe sympathizers to find similar quotes from any other coach in the country, specifically ones basically saying we can't figure out how to play to our ability until mid December or we schedule games to lose to make us better. It's always bothered me but I just can't take it anymore. I already bailed on season tix and thought I'd go to USU, SDS, some BSC, and listen to/watch as many others as I could but I just don't think I can do it. :censored:

So Randy says his system is so complicated that it takes guys well into December to get it down. Well, I have just two questions.
(1) Did all the guys who were also the main players on last years team forget his system in the off-season. Of course they didn't, but if they really did then they are far too dumb to be playing ball at this level.
(2) So if it takes until late December or January to get the complex system down before they actually start executing it and winning, do they lose their understanding in the system when it comes to Conference tournament time and NCAA's? Is that how one explains the piss poor record against any team that is even average.

Great point ... everyone on the team this year was part of the system last year and all summer, even the redshirts. I can't believe how soft we are again this year. We are either not recruiting players who can get it done, or coaching is failing to get it out of them (or both). Let's point the finger at our "big man coach". He really doesn't seem to have a clue.

Thats the first time I have listened to a game (radio) in four years. You can usually find the game online or some form of TV, or my favorite, watch it in person. But, I wasn't going to pay $7 to watch the Cats lose and then get hounded by SDSU for the next six years because I purchased one game (on a side note six years ago, I bought a game on SUU's crap network and got charged 15 a month for five or six months after requesting to quit the service immediately after the game and at the end of every subsequent month till it finally happened. SUU was running quite the ponzi scheme there). It was weird not hearing Carl. Steve isn't as much of a homer and calls a good game. It still was weird. Paul was fine. I like learning things. That is what a color guy is suppose to do. Now he might have rambled on a few times, but that is fine. He is learning, young, and inexperienced (my best Rahe). Did we really want to hear that game anyway. He was keeping it tolerable for Wildcat fans. "Well, nothing new here, lets get some Wildcat history out there. We all know this game is history and the second half hasn't even started yet." Far better than Brad and light-years ahead of Dutch.

So I ran the numbers to check Coachs facts about SDSU being such a veteran team and playing together forever and here are the facts. I took the seven players that received the most minutes on Monday. This is the total minutes they have played for their respective team coming into this season.

SDSU
George Marshall SR 896 (Transferred from Wisconsin. Last year was 1st season with Jacks.)
Deondre Parks SR 1114 (Transferred from Iowa Lakes CC. Last year was 1st season with Jacks.)
Reed Tellinghuisin SO 823 (Last season was his first season with Jacks)
Jake Bittle SR 2010 (Yes he has been around forever. He was the 2nd most experienced player)
Ian Theisen SO 300 (Last season was his 1st season with Jacks)
Mike Daum FR 0 (1st season with Jacks)
Connor Devine JR 431
Total Minutes played for SDSU 5,574

Weber State
Joel Bolomboy SR 2703 (The most experienced player belonged to Weber State)
Jeremy Senglin JR 1774 (The 3rd most experienced player)
Richaud Gittens JR 1694 (The 4th most experienced Player)
McKay Cannon FR 0
Dusty Baker FR 0
Zach Braxton RSFR 0
Kyndahl Hill JR 1368 (The 5th most experienced player)
Total minutes for Weber 7,539

Even if you count Marshalls 577 minutes he played at Wisconsin, we still have significantly more minutes on the court together than they had. We had 4 of the 5 most experienced players on the court for their respective teams. Coaches statements were not correct, most of their team was new last season. What coach should have said is that they were tough, disciplined and had chemistry. All the things that we lack. NO MORE EXCUSES COACH!

Problems that were supposed to have been addressed from last season:

1. PG issues: I think Cannon and Baker are helping to right this issue, but they are both young to the team. Jeremy looks to be better at running the offense and distributing the ball. Personally, I really don't feel this is an area of major concern. The PG is the teams QB. He is who runs the offense. Cannon is our truest PG. And so far so good. Cannon is new to the team, and is taking on a lot really quick. He will only get better. I almost feel that Rahe should start Cannon and move Senglin to the 2, Baker to the 3, and have Richardson come in off the bench. So far this season Ryan has been completely invisible on the court. Richardson's defense is very :ohno: , Gittens is a spark off the bench and can electrify the teams confidence, but he still makes too many mistakes that should have been corrected. I feel he got victimized by some really bad MW refs last friday with his travels, but the missed dunk, when you get the points.

2. Bigs development...this is a MAJOR worry. Our bigs, shockingly, look worse than last year. I understand that Braxton has two games of DI ball under his belt and that that is a factor. But he isn't the only one. However, I feel, he is coming along nicely. We need him to become a rebounding machine, and I feel he will. He will only get better. Yet, Hill...He looked great in the P&W and SVU game, but hasn't really done much since. He looked lost against USU doing nothing in 28mins. He did well on the offensive side of the court against SDSU, but was awful on defense. The Bigs are not tough. Their defense is bad and they are turnover prone. It seems like they are more determined to get blocks than to play good, fundamentally, strong defense.

3. Coaching...beyond Ugh! Randy needs to do something about his defense. Teams are employing a high screen and running their bigs off the post for easy drives to the basket, or the guards are exploiting our bigs slow amble to the basket, by driving for easy layups. How to stop this? ZONES!! Offense is fine other than the issue of crashing the boards. We shoot and run back the other way. I HATE THAT. It is so frustrating to watch our team retreat after a shot. Also, we are not using our bigs like we should.

I am hopeful that things will start to turn around and that our team will start to mesh, but chemistry and leadership is still an issue.

1. Cannon started the 2nd half at SDSU and Richardson only played a total of 9 minutes the entire game (0 pts in 2 games as a starter :ohno: ). I'm guessing that the starting 5 that started the 2nd half (Cannon, Senglin, Baker, Bolomboy, and Braxton) will be the starting lineup going forward. Weber did play better in the 2nd half, being outscored by 5 points compared to 12 points in the 1st half.
