South Dakota

This is South Dakota's last 3 weeks:
Oct 10 - L vs. UC Davis, 23-24 OT
Oct 17 - L at Montana State, 24-31 OT
Oct 24 - Open

Two tough close OT games against middle tier FCS teams, followed by a bye week. They'll be rested, and from the looks of things, they'll be quite a bit tougher than Idaho State and San Diego.

This game should be close, and may come down to which team has the finishing power to close things out in the fourth quarter.

SD - 27...UNC - 26......in OT........maybe....:?

Good luck Bears!!

I'll make a bold perdiction, it will be a "close" "moral victory" but in crunch time we won't get it done but we'll be oh so "close."

Well we just went down 17-14 and I've decided to stop watching this NAIA school just man handle are defense play after play. Rooting for this team is like getting a cavity drilled its so painful and yet we do it week after week. Well Im taking the rest of this week off focus on the basketball season coming up and hopefully they can make UNC fans forget about Downing's shitty coaching and his pathetic staff....hopefully someone can make a change!

Went to the game, it was great game, good to see them get this win. It was nice to see them move the ball the length of the field to go up 21-17. That interception at the end almost turned out to be a bad thing, but the D was able to stand strong.

Since the Montana State debacle, we've actually looked like a pretty decent football team, it's kinda weird, but I'll take it.

Yes, they deserve credit for getting it done in the 4th quarter which is something I'm always complaining about so well done there. The penalties are a real concern. I mean it's week 9 for crying out loud and I can't help but put that on the coaching staff, it's unacceptable to have that many penalties this late in the season, no excuses for that sloppiness.

I just went and looked it up 17-177. I can't ever in my life recall a team having 17 penalties in a game, that is disgraceful. I'd fired Downing on that alone to be honest.

Blofeld - I was really disappointed by the penalties as well, but they are one of the least penalized teams in the conference.

I would like to hear everyone's opinions. Does Downing keep his job IF we beat Sac St. and have a good showing in Montana?

Ya way too many penalties, hopefully we can clean that up next weekend.

I think it'll help Downing's chances of staying if we do beat Sac St., but even if he does get to stay I still think there should be some coaching changes made.

Keep Deti and Shaver on defense but fire our OC and his son. We keep running the option with BW when he's clearly not an option QB. The defense snuffs it out every time. If Orms is in there, yes the option could be a weapon. But he keeps running it with BW. I think he did have to dumb-down the play calling when we lost our starting 3 offensive linemen at the start of the year, which is understandable. However the play calling is way to predictable.

The fact of the matter is this team has won 3 games but two of them have been vs non conference teams and our only big sky win is against a team that doesn't look like they are going to win a conference game this year....If we can't win in the big sky it doesn't really matter what we do out of conference....I think that the Administration has be aware that a 3 win season is still not good and when you beat only bad teams, you can't really deem improvement....I think that this team has more talent then they show and the only way to expose that talent is by hiring a new coach and staff. I hate rooting against my alumni but the fact is if we resign downing to even a one year deal its telling the fans that were ok with a team that is 40 games under .500 with this head coach.

This school has to realize that losing with good players is on the coaches and their calls...I hope that we don't get humiliated vs Montana or Sac state for that matter..but I hope that the administration sees that with this coaching staff we cannot compete in the BIG SKY!

NO!! Downing should be fired regardless. The last coach to win 4 games here was fired so Jay has already set the bar there. The other key stat to watch is attendance. For the last game it was 2,714 (avg for the year of 3,729). This regime has consistently put a lousy team on the field and alienated supporters. A couple of wins against a non-scholarship team, a transitioning team who we dominated for years and probably the worst team in FCS changes nothing. This is not a difficult decision.

The attendance stat makes me want to vomit. There is a reason no one wants to watch this team. Our school deserves better than Downing and Co.

I think it's karma...This is what happens to a program in Colorado when they hire a Corn Husker

The same thing happened to my Redskins when they hired Norv Turner away from the Cowboys as their head coach...YEARS AND YEARS of tears!
