And what's with Rahe ditching the post game radio interview? Man up and explain how you just lost three straight at home. Speaking of, when was the last time that happened?

When you have a player in need of medical attention, you don't do your press conference. I thought Senglin had a broken jaw! That was quite the shot he took! Let's catch our breath and relax a little.
If that's the case, my apologies.

I never thought I would see a game in which Bolomboy has more turnovers than points. All the hype about the NBA and being gone due to the draft is a joke. He got his butt kicked last night. He and Hill are so soft that they let SUU come to our house and be dominant. They pushed us around and instead of getting tougher we cried to the refs!

I'd rather have good Basketball players than great athletes any day. What a joke! Hajek tried to fight back, he might not have skills, but he has heart! Something the rest of the team seems to be missing!

 Very well said. While I am frustrated about how this season has gone, I think it is VERY premature to be calling for people to be fired or suspended  . Its amazing how fast some people forget that WSU was at the Big Dance last year. Even great programs have a down year every once in awhile. Rahe is a damn good Coach and he will reload for next season...reminds me when back in the day when WSU fans wanted McCarthy fired or pressured to leave (that sure was a brilliant idea).
Give these guys your support win loose or draw, or don't bother calling yourself a WSU fan. :twocents:

We just lost at home to our rival that hadn't won a conference road game in two years and came in with a 5-16 record and losers of 5 straight. I'm not going to apologize for being "dramatic". Until last night I still had hope that next year might be different, but it's now very clear that we don't have the players to compete even when they're not young anymore. Bolomboy getting blocked by a 6' guard was just embarrassing.

Agree that Rahe deserves better than this.... His record is tremendous. I just have to say that the absence of Phil Beckner is noticeable. I think there's no one on the staff willing to get in a players face and have that adult conversation.

I've never seen the personality of a team change like this from the prior year. Bolomboy went from tough as nails to toilet tissue soft. I'm not sure how this team would react if someone punched them in the face!

I was listening to Karl Malone yesterday..... Talking about being nasty and being willing to knuckle up if needed. I thought that type of player would be Bolomboy. I was wrong! He and Hill are the softest big men I've ever seen. I understand why Hill picked hoops over football!

I'm embarrassed too, but next year unless Rahe is just out of his mind, we will have a 6'10" 250 lb presence in the middle. I'm confident that the make up of the team will change and we will go back to being a tough team. Not sure how the decision was made to redshirt Jefferson and Braxton, but that was a mistake. We have scholarship players who don't even play 1 minute. Why not recruit the best we can get and play them? I got to beleive that Rahe will be a better coach after this experience. He's pushing all the buttons and not getting any results. I knew we were in trouble this year when Rahe was cheering about Bolomboy shooting 3's. Who wants their big shooting 3's? Let's get back to basics and move players back to their natural positions. Let's also get coaches that are willing to tell Rahe when he's nuts! Bolomboy did not make one shot last night! I'm not sure he's an all Big Sky candidate this season.

What can be said that hasn't already been said before about this team? We have no inside presence. We don't have good shooting guards, and they don't play as a team. We are soft and selfish. Two of the worst descriptive adjectives in basketball. When we play as a team, the Cats look pretty good and seem like a team that is on the cusp of doing some really great things. But when the Cats don't...ugh!! We lost at home to the likes of SUU and PSU.

Rahe is a good coach. He isn't great and that is because he is stubborn. Great coaches change their systems to match the strengths of their players. Rahe is trying to put square pegs into circle slots. It just isn't working. He needs to reevaluate his assistants strengths as well. Whoever is over the bigs needs to be reassigned. Terrible play all season. What little steps they took developing last season has been wiped out.

Starters need to be changed. I'm serious...Hill should be benched. Hayden as PG, Senglin as SG, Gittens as SF, Bolomboy as PF, and start the lone senior in the Center...Hajek.

You guys who are talking about suspending Rahe are nuts. Coach should take some heat he was out coached again by someone making 1/3 his salary. But what good is that really going to do?

Here are my 5 takeaways from last night:

1. Our guys shy away from physical play. We knew what was coming last night. Nick Robinson has coached this way ever since he took over. I felt like we were more concerned about bracing for the contact than finishing the shot. We were intimidated before we ever took the court. Look at how many lay up and put backs we missed due to bracing for the contact.

2. You can't win by playing outside in. A few times Coston and Hajek shot from the gap in the zone, why didn't we at least try to keep working it in there instead of the crazy shots we were throwing up.

3. Hajek was really getting after it last night. We should have played him as much as possible. I also felt like Coston was giving a good effort an spurred that first half rally. Play the guys that want to be there and don't mind playing tough.

4. SUU probably doesn't have more than one or two guys that are athletic enough to play at Weber. Yet collectively they can play as a team and kick our arse twice in a season. We need a few blue collar hard working basketball players like SUU has. I think a few of our guys have read a few too many of their press clippings. I'd like to see less chest pounding and flash from our players and more of a blue collar attitude.

5. Tal is right about Hill. He is lost on both sides of the ball. He is as soft as they come and is one of the main reasons our post play has been so poor. We missed on this guy big time!

I wouldn't count on Senglin...... His jaw is probably broken.

UGH!! That really sucks for Jeremy. I hope they get him taken care of as soon as possible. He is such a tough player and a good kid. When he isn't on the floor you can tell. He didn't have the greatest game last night, but he is competitive and that is something this team really needs.

Well...that means we are down two players, both guards. Richardson won't be able to go till next Thursday at the earliest and Senglin, with a broken jaw, is done for the season. DO NOT BURN RED SHIRTS NOW!!! So...well, what does Jordan bring to the team?

Lets not forget 1 thing. Coach Rahe has brought a lot of success to Weber State. He will again too.

I'm not calling for Rahe's job (like it would matter what I was calling for anyway) but I also certainly don't hold his staff's ability in such high regard as some. They are losing my interest, though. I can handle the down years as long as I see competent play that seems to match ability (e.g WSU FB.) I don't see that this season and I'm not really sure why it would change much next year with the incoming "talent" being young and inexperienced. I'm really struggling with this coaching staff's seeming inability to form a team system to the talents of the players. Again, why would that change any next season?

#1. Put backs? Most possessions, as soon as a Weber player begins to put up a shot, 3 Weber players are headed to the defensive end of the floor, with the shooter shortly behind. Joel is typically the only one interested in an offensive rebound. He doesn't make a great effort boxing out but does have rebounding desire. It's a tough go with 1 non-boxing, offensive rebounder vs 4 boxing, defensive rebounders. Could that be part of the issue with him looking softer, NBA-unready compared to last season? Hajek has heart and gives it all he has, unfortunately he is not on the floor with Joel much and even if they they are on the floor together, it still turns into a 2 vs 4 situation. Additionally, Hajek's skill set doesn't seem to match whatever ?offense Rahe is running. I gotta pin a lot of this on coaching. You can't teach desire or toughness but you can teach a 0-star, Jr. High girl to box out when a shot goes up.

#2. You can't win without have something on the floor that resembles an offense, where players actually move, cut, screen, etc. Why are they jacking up ill-advised shots? My guess is they have no accountability to do otherwise, or, they ARE running the offensive sets that I don't seem to be able to see. A few of my favorites are Golden shooting 3's with his body at about a 90° angle from facing the basket; Senglin driving into 3 post defenders; and Gittens (and sometimes 1-2 others doing the exact same thing) standing just outside the 3pt line, bent over, watching the ball, never moving the entire offensive possession. None of those things resemble an actual offense. I seriously am questioning what kind of offense this coaching staff teaches. I very much enjoy the ONLY inbound play that the defense doesn't bother defending-- 3/4 court throw in.

#3. 100% agree.

#4. Ya, the recruiting athletic only players to be basketball players does not appear to be a good strategy. Most other BSC teams, including UM, seem to be able to recruit athletes with high bball IQ or specific bball skills and can implement their skills into a team concept. Maybe Weber players have become guys too used to being "the (crazy athletic) guy" in high school with free reign to be the star, and the team can't become the sum of its parts. Whatever it is, there are simply too many problems with basics, mechanics, and IQ for this team to be more than it is. I agree with some that Phil Beckner was a HUGE loss for this team for multiple reasons.

#5. 100% agree and saw and began commenting about this last season but thought it was too early to call him a bust but it's looking probable at this point.

Frustration, anger, justified & understood...WSU FANS/ANYFANS have a right to criticize on a forum like this! It's a tough year for Weber State BB, hasn't been the first, and probably won't be the last. This season's Wildcat basketball has tilted on the UGLY side more often than not & the blame is all around--playing & coaching. Weber will likely win a few more games, but this season has it's stains remaining, and the important thing is that they need to be cleaned up ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do go on about the GOOD, BAD, & UGLY! It's reality & for those annoyed or amused, deal with it.

It would be criminal negligence if Rahe burned a redshirt at this time in the season and yes, he should be fired for attempting to waste a kids eligibility in this situation. Don't even think of it!

We have talent, but this team is really missing fundamentals...... Something you wouldn't expect from a Rahe team. They box out like high schoolers and just aren't hungry! Senglin is out for 4 weeks.... The team can fold or step it up. I've seen nothing in this team to believe they will rise to the occasion. I hope they prove me wrong.

While I don't share your enthusiasm that Rahe will DEFINITELY bring Weber State a ton of future success, I do agree that it's crazy for those of you who think he should (or will) be let go due to one bad season. Cravens didn't have nearly as much success as Randy has, and it took three crap seasons before Graybeal made the decision to go in a new direction.

Amen. Play the guys on the bench. I remember a few years back that a walk on at Eastern Washington finally was given a chance to play at the end of the season. He is the Big Sky's top player right now. If they are on your bench, might as well give them a chance.
