Spring Ball

Them just interviewing him over Bell makes it seem like its his job to lose.

Not a surprise to anyone paying attention. He’s clearly QB1.

I think there are a lot of ways to integrate Bell into the offense. He’s got a lot of talents beyond just being a QB. I’d imagine he offers a lot of potential in many different positions.

It just seems like there is rhetoric around "open QB competition" they're trying to push.

We'll probably get another QB run packages like with Taylor.

They're insane if he's not QB1 in the fall. That said, I agree that there's a ton Bell can do in the offense. I don't want to see him sidelined. I actually see Rolfness being the #2 QB with Bell being used more like a Michael Wortham.

I attended. First thing I noticed was the large number of recruits present at the scrimmage and they were from all. Starting at a high level, Defense performed well. They ran a traditional 4 3. Four down linemen, didn't see many times you had a stand up ends. The back 7 looked good. Not a lot of openings for the receivers.
The LBs were impressive. A couple of nice picks by backups from last year. On offense, only 2 RBs were available. Allen and Dotson. Allen ran hard but difficult find openings with a 2 team line. Dotson was impressive. Ran hard and elusive. Hope he stays on the field.
The Oline looked much better from last year and had numbers this time around.
At QB, looked like Bell and Schakel split most of the reps. Bell threw a 2 TDs, throw the ball well when the patterns were to the outside but never hit over the middle plus didn't use his legs. I would say an average performance.
Schakel is the more polished passer. Shuffles and steps up in the pocket. He has a tendency to force his throws. His last throw was into triple coverage. I would say his performance was, average as well.
Finally, the long snapper needs to improve

I attended the Red White game earlier today. My first observation was the amount of guys not suited up for the game. I would say about a total of 50 suited up.
Had just one running back available, Allen III. Ran hard and I thought he had a strong game. The WRs had some solid plays like Pruett. Branch was the best player on the field. Offensive was solid and looked much improved for last year. Defensively, they looked solid but hard to project going forward with so many out. Also, I didn't see any of the transfers we signed in February on the field.
Liked the long snapper but worried the kickoff is not deep enough.
Now the QB. If you look at today's, Bell is the starter
Moved the team better and had a good deep ball and strong throws on the outside. His issue is throws across the middle are limited due to his height but didn't turn the ball over. Schakel was a little less accurate and has mobility but nothing like Bell. Finally, Schafer continues to turn the ball over with throws into double coverage. The opportunities were the same for both.
