Spring Ball

I attended the Red White game earlier today. My first observation was the amount of guys not suited up for the game. I would say about a total of 50 suited up.
Had just one running back available, Allen III. Ran hard and I thought he had a strong game. The WRs had some solid plays like Pruett. Branch was the best player on the field. Offensive was solid and looked much improved for last year. Defensively, they looked solid but hard to project going forward with so many out. Also, I didn't see any of the transfers we signed in February on the field.
Liked the long snapper but worried the kickoff is not deep enough.
Now the QB. If you look at today's, Bell is the starter
Moved the team better and had a good deep ball and strong throws on the outside. His issue is throws across the middle are limited due to his height but didn't turn the ball over. Schakel was a little less accurate and has mobility but nothing like Bell. Finally, Schafer continues to turn the ball over with throws into double coverage. The opportunities were the same for both.
Looking forward to Bell looking at the couple outside receivers he can actually see, them not being open then him scrambling for his life.

We'll have some weapons on offense; maybe moreso than last year. I'm completely unsure as to what to make of the D. They looked good at times during the R/W game but the verdict is definitely still out.

Alot of times in these spring games they limit the type of plays the offense use and even the defense know what those plays are going to be. They always want the defense to look good since that generally is the side of the ball where we underperform and what the fans want to see improve the most going into fall season. Hard for me to take much out of spring season when we have to play the hand we are dealt now days. In the "old-days" in spring games they could fire up some monster plays and let our stars shine just a bit then throw in new players and let our D shine and impress our fans cause even back then our D was in trouble if our D studs got hurt.
