Spring Championships

Looks like the NCAA will be approving a 16 team playoff to be played from mid April to mid May. That would put our season starting at the end of February.

It will be interesting to see if the BSC still gets 4 teams in. It could also make for some interesting early games for the Montanas.

I'm hopeful! :coffee:

The biggest question from this decision is when will Fall 2021 start? Is it going to be on the same timeline? It is really hard, especially for those teams that will go far into the playoffs to turn around and play in August. That would only give the team a month and a half to recover before they get back at it. For the fans...this is awesome, but for the players, I really worry. You need time to recover. Finally, will they (NCAA/BIG SKY) merely push back the 2020 schedule a year, and play it next Fall 2021? That would push back all other schedules, but to me, that would make the most sense. I really wanted to play Wyoming.

For spring, we have an indoor facility, not the largest, but it is effective and will help the Cats be that much more prepared for Spring games. BUT, YIKES, playing anywhere other than Cal Poly or Sacramento in February will be ugh. What does our friendly local Meteorologist say (I can't remember which member of this forum has all of the sweet weather data). I figured a Saturday in February could be as low as 20 or as high as 50. Never know with Utah.

Seems to me that the late February weather is quite variable and very simmilar to late November/early December. I'll just be happy to see us playing again. Of course, it could all blow up on us again. I'm not encouraged by the recent uptic in cases and also that they are mostly coming from our schools. I think we sort of knew that schools reopening would be a risk, but it seems to be a bigger risk than our leaders had thought. If we want to see sports any time soon, we need to take the mask wearing and distancing seriously. :coffee:
