Anyone excited? LOL! Good article by Matt in the Tribune today. Lobato is the headline and then he writes a bit about Jace being back and ready to go. Also, the addition of Dinky Williams as our strength program seems to help a ton. The kids are in the best shape of their lives. http://www.greeleytribune.com/article/20120324/SPORTS/703249932/1051&ParentProfile=1001" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I also took a look at the results from the Quad-Athon and I guess you can say it's almost a sneak-peak at the spring roster. Looks like we are log-jammed at the skill positions on both sides of the ball, but lack depth on the offensive and defensive lines .http://uncbears.com/sports/fball/2012-13/2012_Quad-A-Thon.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Do you still have to pay to read the tribune online? I wonder how that is working out for them. :lol:

Yeah, I know it's stupid. This article is free though. Also, if you get the mobile app, all of the articles are free.

What a joke praising Dinky! Talk to any of the athletes and he's horrible. All the people who work in the weight room can't believe the programs he is putting them through. Someone should have done some research on this guy and probably Collins as well.

lilbear, are the workouts too light, too rough or just not effective? I really hope these kids are in good enough shape so they don't get injured.

Yeah, I have. I personally talked to Bumpas a while back and he said nothing but good things about Dinky.

Lil bear whats your deal? Do you have some axe to grind with the new coaching staff cause from what you've said and what has been heard from players a totally opposites! So whats with your personal vendetta with the new coaches?

I would venture to guess 0-11 has something to do with it."da bears den". But around here that's not the priority. No cash no quality coaching no wins university is the name of the game. Only 10 interceptions only 32 points a game allowed. And a strength coach named "dinky".

Okay, it's been more than a week. I saw one brief article in the Tribune........does anybody have any insights into how practices are going?

I was able to catch a practice. Old Man Dalton certainly has made his presence known again. The offense has changed a bit - More snaps under center and not many, if at all snaps in the shot gun. I'm okay with that because Lobato is a huge guy. Why have him stand back there in shot gun? Especially in short yardage situations. On defense, I didn't see much improvement from the DB's, but the LB's are killing it. Bumpas could go all-american. The other LB, transfer from JC. is good too. They moved some guys around like Gavin Miller. He's a defensive end now. I didn't see Willingham out there, heard he was injured.

Thanks for the update Beardown. So what is OK Dalton up to ?? Did I miss something? Interesting with Gavin moving to DE. He is quick ! Yea, I think the LB crew is going to be awesome ! So is Dalton at practice or what?

He's advising the offensive staff. I don't see a problem with it. He has a great football mind with X's and O's and maybe he and Hinrichs have learned to let go of the past. I agree with Gavin playing DE. That's not uncommon to have an LB switch to DE. He will be good at that position.

That's pretty big of Dalton to come back and help like that actually. I was too hard on the guy before which I'm regretful about now. :dunce:

If Labato is working under center that means the offensive scheme will change. I guess after 1 year Coach Collins isn't buying in to last years offensive. Going from shotgun to under center is not an easy transition for a quarterback. Not only is the footwork different but so is the timing with receivers. How did Labato look with under center? Gotta believe he's struggling with it.

Bringing in an advisor means Collins either doesn't have faith in his coaching staff or he is doubting himself. I don't have a good feeling about the mental aspect of this team. I hope the players can overcome the doubt that surrounds the team and play some good football.

Bearcrawls, why are you so negative about everything. Its like you are on a witch hunt !! Try lookin for something good. Attitude is everything !

If he stays the course he will get hammered for sticking with a failing system. If he makes changes he gets hammered for no knowing what he was doing.

I, for one, am thrilled that he looked at the weaknesses of the team and coaching staff and reached out for help.

Here's some good....we almost went 1-11 last year. We almost stopped people from embarassing the defense. We almost have an offensive coordinator. We almost have fans who have a clue what's really about to happen again this year.

Take a look at the boards this time two years ago. Similar outcome maybe a few more games but people felt like they had a shot. On the brink of winning seasons every year people thought this was the problem or that was the problem. Here's my point, people were involved with it because they had a sense of success being near. Now look at these boards, it's a shame. Find the happiness and the good people. No I say find the problem and fix it or see me no more because this crap is embarassing from top to bottom. :nutkick:

Hey guys, I hope you all will forgive me if i sound stupid, as this is my first post. My son commited to UNC in February and is so excited to become Bear. I t sounds like from these posts that there are clearly two very different opinions as to which way the program is going. I guess for us we are going on blind faith that the team is beginning to rebound from its past short commings. My son had other options, but in the end I think he truely felt like being part of the building process was an exciting and do able process. I remember the other coaches telling him he would regret this decission. My son is looking foreward to helping shut these people up. This can only happen if we are all rowing in the same direction.I think this incomming class is going to be a truely great class. My family and I are looking foreward to cheering the Bears on this comming football season!!!
