We've updated the site to combine all the forums that were part of the Big Sky Fans Network into one location. This will make it easier to navigate and participate in all the discussions for each school without having to have multiple accounts, etc. We are still working out some tweaks but please let us know if you notice anything.

With the migration, in some circumstances, your username could have been merged with one of your other usernames from the other forums. If this is the case, you can request to change your username in your account details page of your profile.

Spring Football

I watched most of Friday's practice and the team is looking good. It was the first day of practice so they were in helmets only and there was very little hitting. There was a lot of spirit and excitement and it appeared they were ready to start hitting this week. It was very noticeable that some of the players appeared to be much bigger and stronger than last fall. The group that stood out to me was the quarterbacks as Higgins, Hoke and Hancock all looked much stronger. Overall speed looked great and the practice seemed very organized and efficient. Special teams looked good when they practiced field goals and punt. They will be practicing Tues, Thurs and Sat for most of spring ball with the final scrimmage on Apr. 18.

those pictures got me pumped up for the season. i cant wait, i even went to the knights game on monday so i could see some football. i think we will be a force this season with so many good players coming back. i cant wait until we embarass montana again and take the conference outright.

I think 2 key positions to watch this spring are the offensive line and linebacker positions. We graduated all 3 starting linebackers last year. Those 3 guys (J.D. Folsom, Ryan Galovic, and Biff Swan) played almost every down. There wasn't really a rotation as those 3 took almost all the snaps on the defensive side. There are some young linebackers that got some experience on special teams but a few special teams plays is not even comparable to playing a whole game in the box. Hopefully the young guys can step up and do their part. Every other position on the defense is solid barring any injuries so it should help the young backers in their maturing process.

The offensive line lost 3 starters (Paul Carpenter, Lawaia Naihe, and Zac Carlson). They do however bring back 2 all big sky performers in Mutcher and Oram. There are some young guys in the mix and some upper classmen who will finally get their chance to prove themselves. It is also a possibility that Travis Harris, a starter his Sophomore season, will return from 3 back surgeries and play this year. Hopefully he stays healthy and is able to perform at the level he did when he first got here. We all know that all the other offensive positions are stacked and that will definitely help out the o-line. It might take a bit to get that cohesiveness that is so important on the o-line but if they're able to get that and at least compete our other offensive stars will be able to take over.

Overall I think we have a great chance to improve on what was accomplished last season. Let's hope the team can continue to improve and get better with each practice this spring.
