Anyone know the date and time of the spring game? You'd think ISU would post it somewhere, but if they did I sure can't find it. Not on the events calendar. http://www2.isu.edu/calendar/#/?i=2

I've heard Saturday April 23rd but no idea if that is correct or what time.

any chance is the Spring game usually broadcast on a web site or something like that. I would love to watch it if its available on line because I live a long distance from Pocatello and cant make it to the spring game in person

last year Jerry and I did it via web cast and I know Steve Schaak has mentioned it as a possibility this year but I have no definite info as of right now. You may want to send an e-mail to Steve and ask to be sure.

The spring game 'kicks off' at Noon on the 23rd is my understanding.

He is ISU's sports information director and in charge of all broadcasting things. He makes all the decisions on things along those lines.

Just got word from Steve that we will be streaming the spring game over Stretch Internet on Saturday April 23.

Game starts at noon on that day so for those of you who can't make it to watch there will be an option.

The offense and defense is looking pretty good through Spring Ball according to Kramer. The hype has always been about the offense and defense in the Spring and Fall. What about the Special Teams hype? Kramer talked about how terrible we were last season. I would like to see some kickoffs, some punts, some field goals, some extra points, some kickoff returns, some punt returns, some kickoff defensive coverages, and some punt defensive coverages during all scrimmages. How are we measuring up Kramer in these areas? The Sports Writers need to question Kramer about Special Teams and hold him accountable. No excuses this season after we open the season, i.e. "I knew we were in trouble for the entire season after the kickoff return for a TD during the Portland State game". Full scholarship kickoff and punt return specialist type of players not being able to return punts and kickoffs is too conservative of play in my opinion. Is it possible for the kickoff return specialist and punt return specialist that are on full scholarship to catch and return the ball to see what they can do ? To me, giving them the green light all of the time is exciting football.
 
Cheney has kicked three field goals if I remember right in the first two scrimmages. Time is being spent on that area. The young man who was kicking last year and got hurt in the UNLV game, sorry the name escapes me at the moment, told me he is still a month away from resuming football duties due to the surgery / recovery period.

Zak Johnson is the place kicker who was injured at UNLV. He told me also he had a few weeks to kick it hard. But also said it's mostly precaution and he feels good.
Also it might be mentioned that in the last few scrimmages, the punts have looked pretty good. And no, they are not roll out punts. However, there has not been run back being done. The only people on the field are the long snapper, punter, one blocker, and one return man. I feel that is due to many many injuries happen on punts and returns in football. (No reason to risk it during spring ball)
 
You are right. Kramer is afraid someone is going to get hurt so he does not risk it during Spring Ball. That is why we are not so good on Special Teams. We do not work on our Special Teams playing with full contact so it always comes back to bite us during the season. If you remember Kramer mentioned several times at the end of the 2015 season that he knew his team was in trouble after the Kickoff Return Specialist for Portland State went 100 yards for a TD. Just sayin..
 
Fans. This is the latest information I received Thursday night. If you plan on attending Saturday you may want to check with ISU (maybe on their redesigned web site) for the latest information.

The Weather Channel is saying the temperature Saturday will drop into the high 40's, with a 90% chance of rain and winds between 25 and 35 miles an hour.

Apparently Holt Arena is not an option Saturday so either the game will not be played or it will still be outside under the conditions listed above.

If they play dress appropriately.

Regarding the Stretch Internet broadcast of the game, if it is raining there is a chance it will not be broadcast. There are no facilities available to protect the radio gear from the elements and a hard rain could cause a lot of damage.

That's all I've got right now but again stay turned and we'll see what develops weather-wise.

Sorry we had to cut short the broadcast of the spring game. The rain simply started to get heavy and the thunder and lightning sealed it. They never did return to the field in case you were wondering so they got off about 50 plays.

I don't know if you are being facetious or not but with the lightning it's an automatic wait of at least 30 minutes. Coupled with the rain that didn't let up until about an hour later I can't disagree with the decision made by the coaches.

Also in case anyone is wondering why with the weather they didn't play inside Holt Arena, according to Mike, it's because the new turf isn't down in the spring... just the old, hard flat stuff. I assume Mike didn't not want to risk injuries on that stuff since they haven't practiced on it much.

Five road games will be played outside. It maybe a good idea to start practicing outside on the practice field for those road games to prepare for harsh conditions, i.e. Montana, EWU, and Portland State.

I cannot believe our defense shut down our offense like that. What the heck is going on?
