Spring Practice Thread

If you remember right, Glanville stated that practices will be from 7-9AM in the mornings instead of when they used to practice in the afternoon. I can imagine with all the new staff its gonna be a long day for the guys getting to meet everybody and receiveing all the new playbook material that they will have to learn for the spring game and for this coming fall.

hope we can reload on Defense

Your defense will definitely be hard hitting and exciting to watch, I'll tell you that.

we were awesome last year, held /users/31/07/37/smiles/icon4.gif to 6 points, issue is graduation

That's great even though UNM doesn't have the best offense in the world. Sounds like JG already has some athletes to work with, which is a big plus!

That'd be Brian White. He is then followed by Tygue Howland and some pretty good frosh. I believe there is 1 more upperclassmen but can't think of his name right now. /users/31/07/37/smiles/515148.gif

UHWarrior23, how does your guys' QB situation look after CB? Will there be a dropoff next year or do you have someone already in place who will step in to lead the Warriors? /users/31/07/37/smiles/802386.gif

according to UH's QB coach 25 of the top 100 QB's in the class of 2008 have sent film to UH, I doubt a drop off at all

That's correct. With all the success of our program and the great NFL calibar coaches we have, great recruits at not only QB but basically every position on both sides of the ball want to be Warriors.
Yes we have a guy that would be ready to step in and take over when CB is done. He's a JR in Tyler Graunke. He's only about 6 feet tall but is a great leader, has great speed (could probably play slot receiver or RB if we needed him to), has a stronger arm the CB and is almost as accurate as CB. I think he's one of the best backups in college football. Whenever he came into games whether it's PT in the 2nd, 3rd or 4th qtrs, he's been very impressive. Our opening game in 2008 at the Swamp to take on the Gators and TG is definitely the leading candidate to be the starting QB for that game.

Okay I thought this was a thread about the Spring game not talk about how good you think Hawaii is!

Also to what Bozz Hoggz said Brian White is not the front runner. From how the season ended last yr I can see how it could be perceived that way but with a new HC and pretty much with an all new staff the position is open to who Mouse and Glanville think can run the offense and be the team captain. Tygue has just as much of a chance as White does even though White transfered from U-Colorado does not mean that he is a better QB. I garauntee you that Tygue would have been the back up for Sawyer the entire time that Sawyer was injured if Tygue would have not gotten injured himself. Not to say that Tygue is better than White but the fact of the matter is that none of us have really seen either of them play an entire game. I hope that Tygue will have had the chance to rehabilitate his shoulder in time for spring practices cause how exciting would be to see them both run equal amount of plays for the spring game?

GoViks: I think its kinda funny how in love with Tygue you are. Every time the QB position at PSU comes up, you start singing the praises of a guy who hasn't seen any game action (A couple snaps in the Cal game doesn't count). I'm not saying your wrong about him, I just think its kinda funny.

Will be interesting to see if Kavenaugh (sp?), the kid who led Portland's Lincoln High into the playoffs for two years, redshirts or gets his shot at QB. He's not very big, though, so I wouldn't even be surprised to see him moved to a different position altogether.

Lets just say my reasoning is that I went and watched quite a few practices last fall and the kid was amazing to watch for only being a frosh. He is one of the purest passers that I have seen play the game.

The only reason I defend him is for the fact that everybody seems to believe that White will start for the fact that he came from D1-Colorado so he much be a better QB if he was recruited to play at that level. When in fact I believe that Tygue has just as much of a chance to start as White does. Both are very talented when it comes to playing the position.
