Stadium Upgrades

So now that the Well is next to the stadium, does that mean that permanent, clean toilets were an option for the game? Did they do anything to include Well facilities for the stadium? Just curious. I would hope/expect so.

Now that the turf is in, what's the next stadium upgrade the school is looking at - more permanent seats? I could see that being a big selling point for alumni.

I'd say arena before stadium upgrades, but stadium upgrades would be nice. I don't think there are any well facilities for the stadium which is too bad because that place is amazing.

I know it isn't a structural upgrade, but I'd love to see them replace the green mesh that covers the stands. There are many stadiums that employ the mesh material, but incorporate pictures and designs. Not necessary, would just look nice. Also, I've been hearing that a new press box/luxury suites will be the next structural improvement to Hornet. Anyone have any info on this?

No time table set, but the plan is to replace the entire west side of the stadium with a permanent structure which would include the new press box/luxury suites at the same time. Estimated cost is $22.5 million. I believe this would hold about 8500 seats.

That stinks for capacity. The current westside seats over 11K now.

Hey, that's just what I've heard the plan is. It may not end up there. I doubt much changes in the next 3-4 years myself unless a big donor steps up.

I'd gladly give 3000 seats up if it means better facilities. Chairback seating throughout the stadium would be tremendous.

So I haven't heard back for sure - can you use bathrooms at the Well or not?

I'd say $22.5M is a pretty big donor(s). Yes, I'd like to see 11-12,000 westside and for the moment leave what we have in place for the 'visitors' eastside. It will be similar to the set-up at Poly.

UCFE built their stadium (11,000) for $30M, should we just stretch ourselves and build something similar to what they have and then add a deck if/when demand warrants? But then we would be facing what the laggies are facing this year, a crowd of 17K who will only have 11K seats, money left on the table. Plus, the track, that d@mn track...

I'd doubt that the Well can be used for restrooms, etc.

Speaking of the Well, who were those people watching the game from the deck Saturday?

Im guessing Rec Center staff

Maybe they could make it a premium area with refreshments etc. like the one that they have for the VIPs on the Broad Building deck. Send the Well staff back to work cleaning the climbing wall!

The real story is when will the Events Center portion be built? It was part of the voted-upon campaign promise.
