Starters not starting?

Word is at least a few starters are not starting this weekend. It's my understanding the players not starting were told that since it's a non-conference game and their backups were working hard, this would be as good a game as any to give them a start.

Uhhh... Hasn't the chatter pretty much been that THIS is the game to win at this point? Aren't we all under the impression that the outcome of this game has playoff implications? Conference game or no, I'm having a hard time understanding why our coaches would change up what's been working (especially on defense) for THIS game.

Who's got the inside scoop?
 
Yeah, let's not worry about this game because it only has potential seeding implications. If true, I'd like to know the tought process that went into that one.
 
Come on! Do you really think we're taking it easy in this game?! I don't think so. We'll be playing balls to the wall. SUU's five game winstreak is proof enough that they're no push overs. I wouldn't get too worked up over rumors that the normal starters aren't starting. There may be one or two opening snap changes but I guarantee that playing time won't change until we're up 21 in the fourth quarter.

God, I hope you're right. I'm not really interested in seeing us doing any crazy shit this weekend.
 
Still strikes me as odd that we'd change up any at this point - especially with the explanation having been given that the backups are working hard and deserve a start. If you're going into the playoffs, you are NOT worried about making sure backups get starts. You're playing your best players. Period.

RtR usually has some fairly good insight into what's going, so chances are there's some merit to this. Hopefully it's just a comment that was made that might have been taken slightly out of context.

Perhaps Artise Gauldin at one of the corners, maybe Will Edge at one of the safety spots? Both of these guys are pretty solid players with experience. I can't think of many other spots where things would be shook up. Maybe the OL if some players aren't completely healthy yet.
 
Meh, I wouldn't read too much into this. I would say, if anything, a couple guys might start so they can have that in their back pocket as a confidence thing. The regular guys will likely be in by the second series. There's no way the coaches or players are taking this thing lightly either. There's blood in the water and it's time to go in for the kill!

Also, EWUeag: Did you play? I would say there aren't that many people who completely understand your Wulff quote :lol:
 
Not every starter on the team is the reason the Eagles have made it this far. This is DI baby, no matter if we are going into the championship game, coach has to put the better man in to start. If they don't get the job done then they get pulled too. Eagles are going in tomorrow's game with a vengence and there is no taking it easy on any one player. Every position will be started by THE BEST player for that spot. LETS GO EAGS!!!!

Spoke with Coach Baldwin today after the one hour walk practice, he stated he will be starting his regular STARTERS. I made all 5 practices this week, the team looks great. Watch #9 BLM, #3 Greg Heard, and#7 Jeff Minnerly, you ae going to see some stuff that will make your head turn like Linda Blair in the "Exorcist" :evil: :lol: The Coaches have this team ready for a big game tomorrow.

Of course the "D"will be clicking as usual. Kicking between Mike Jarrett, and #68 Kevin Miller, they were both kicking 40 yards FG. The weather is supposed to be cold tomorrow, it will not keep me away. Went to Fairchild on Thursday, spent $43.00 just for hand and toe warmers. couldn't find any big enough for my "BUTT" :lol: Saturday comes in a few hours, must hit the sack, will depart my home at about 11"am, for Roos Field. p.s. Athleltic Dept. will be selling the new BadgerSport Jerseys for #35.00 tomorrow. On the back is the Red Turf, wording "Eagle Football" on top, "Roos Field" on bottom.

On the front are the words "THAT"S RIGHT, IT"S RED. Black Jersey, and very good material, more like Ban Lon. It stretches very well. I got two today,for myself and my daughter, wore them at the Basketball Games. Good Night. Go Eagles!!!!! Vic Wallace
 
p.s. the entire team is very healthy. The players that will not be playing are the regular ones that are on the injury list the past year. Spencer Hessler, Ronnie Hamlin, Evan Cook (had shoulder surgery this week), and #32, Chase King RB, all are out for the year. Bye. Go Eags.!!!!Vic
 
Thanks for the info, Vic. So I take it that Jolley will be back, along with some of the guys that were dinged up on the O-line. Very good to hear.
