Stitt or Wristen?

Who should be our next head coach IF Collins is fired? Both are very good coaches in their current capacities. Stitt is a supposed mastermind and offensive guru. He's got UNC connections and had been tutored under Kay Dalton. He, along with Wristen is handcuffed by RMAC restrictions on scholarships. Can you imagine either of these guys with a full 60 plus instead of 24 that the RMAC imposes? Wristen has done a great job in the short amount of time CSUP has resurrected its program. He seems to have a real eye for talent that gets overlooked. I'm sure several of those players he has could play for FBS teams. I like either one and I believe they would be an upgrade over Collins and staff.

I doubt either one will want to come here. UNC needs someone from a winning program. I don't care if its FCS, DII, DIII, or NAIA. UNC see needs someone that knows how to win, because this current staff does not.

Look at what CSU did, got someone from a winning program and now they are doing good things there.

I agree with bear down, I think they would come here as would a host of others and I would bet that off the record their is already chatter going on !

Someone from outside the "family." At this point a complete reset is needed.

Heck if it was me I'd go get a guy from Georgia Tech or Navy and run the fricking option... we'll never have the athletes to compete with a lot of the teams in this conference so I'd say out scheme them... also the running back position is a dieing breed, everyone is playing WR now in these spread offenses so we'd be able to recruit better RB's. And schools like Georgia Tech and Navy are a pain in the ass for their opponents as they are usually always the only option team they play in any given year.

What? Both Mines and CSUP do win. I think both would be enticed to come here for the mere factor of playing in a much better league. The Big Sky is a top notch FCS conference. I think part of the reason we kept Joe Glenn here for so long is because he wanted to coach in the NCC, which for a very long time was the best conference in D2. Plus a salary increase, bigger budget and more schollies. Collins makes what, 120K? I doubt either make that much at their respected schools.

I agree both of those programs win, and I would like to have either. I'm just saying I don't know if I see either applying for the job a second or third time.

Should have hired Stitt when they had the chance, could have gotten him for less than they are paying Collins and got twice the offensive production. Now, if you're lucky you can get him for at least as much as your paying Collins. Problem your AD put you in with the Collins extension is paying him off and hiring another Coach...can the budget handle it?

The Bears have some of the best talent in the Conference. It's the coaching that isn't utilizing the talent. A great coach will turn this overly talented team into a winning program in a season, while a sub par coach such as Collins will have a team full of talent and won't use it the right way.

The reason the team isn't winning now is coaching, the coaches can't do anything right, and wont ever be able to put a talented team in position to win a game.

The reason the team has been in so many games is the talent.

We don't know what the contract includes. There is a termination clause, so there may not be a "buy-out."

According to the Tribune article after the extension was approved the termination clause and/or buyout is reportedly 3 months salary. Not a very big bite to chew off if you ask me.

I doubt Stitt or Wristen would be very interested in coming to Greeley at this point. Stitt's name is being thrown around as an OC for several bigger programs and rumor is that CSU-P is in the process of moving up to D-I, including new facilities and bigger stadium (not sure those are credible rumors though). I don't think a 30k-40k raise to coach in the BSC for a struggling program would be all that enticing.

I agree and concur 100%
