Yea, I read that this morning. I'm impressed with the move !

Since hearing that the strength & conditioning coach has been replaced, I will remind everyone that months ago I gave my opinion that Dinky and Boyer were the weak links on Coach Collins’ staff. The replacement of the S&C coach clearly illustrates a point that I previously made about the managing responsibilities that all head coaches must tackle. That responsibility is that the HC must ACCURATELY evaluate staff and make the appropriate changes to address their shortcomings. That said, I am going to put the onus of Boyer’s (lack of) performance on Collins’ shoulder. I will start by saying that I agree with a statement made by Collins about Boyer’s excellent knowledge of the X’s and O’s of an offense. The fact that Boyer calls bonehead plays once in a while is not alarming, given the fact that all OC’s will do that (Seattle’s pass play to end last year’s Super Bowl). It is my opinion (and that of EVERY UNC player I have talked to) that Boyer’s glaring failure is his inability to address, relate and be honest to the players. This is a very important trait when dealing with 18 to 23 year old college kids who must be motivated by coaches to play consistently with the hearts and minds. And in this particular situation, that means that Collins has not properly addressed Boyer’s weakness. A very good example of this is Lane Kiffin’s career. He is an excellent X’s and O’s coach, but could never relate to college football players when he was the boss (head coach). Yet Coach Saban recognized the talent and immediately hired him as Bama’s OC when he was fired from USC. Saban knows how to manage Kiffin’s weaknesses and strengths. Coach Collins needs to do this with Boyer. It is my opinion that this needs to happen, or I believe that UNC will go 2-9 next year(btw, I predicted 8-3 last year, and would have gotten within one win of that prediction if EWU hadn’t kicked a game ending 42 yard FG). Unfortunately, it may be too late for Boyer to change in this particular situation, let’s hope not. If he plans to continue to coach at the H.S. or college level, then Boyer will have to work on becoming more of a “player’s coach.” Let’s welcome to the new strength & conditioning coach and have faith that Coach Collins will continue to grow at becoming a good boss. Maybe Collins’ bosses, Dunn and Norton will take note.

This is good news! Southern Utah won the conference despite having the lowest budget in the conference. I'm sure Butler had something to do with their success. :thumb:

Someone comparable to Lane Kiffin in terms of X and O's would not be going into their 6th year calling plays at an FCS school with ZERO promotion opportunity. Collins negligence has given him a free education most coaches dont get with so much room for error and forgiveness time and time again. Anybody with a brain can figure out a way to improve over a 6 year period time at the helm. Why are none of them being promoted or taking better opportunity at bigger and better programs. THEY SUCK, thats why!

Leaves me to conclude Earnest Collins is not smart much less comparable to Nick Saban regardless if its just a hypothetical example of the two. When he reads that he thinks hes lucky to have an "NFL" quarterback coach on his staff but has never had NFL offers much less mid major FBS offers or mid level Big Sky. I honestly think that Collins isn't really the head coach and that he's just a guy equal to or less than qualified to his staff members thus the reason behind stunted growth within the program. He doesnt know what he doesnt know and hes intimidated at the same time by his own staff.

Looks like a lot of mobility, change of direction, speed work. I like it.

Was this something that was missing when Dinkey was here?
