SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sacramento State athletics director Terry Wanless announced the addition of head strength and conditioning coach Jared Nessland and assistant strength and conditioning coach Erin White.
Nessland comes to Sacramento State after serving as the head strength and conditioning coach at Southern Illinois since 2008. Nessland, a 1999 graduate of Montana State, also served as the head strength and conditioning coach at North Dakota from 2002-07.
Nessland was a three-year letterwinner and academic all-conference selection for the track and field team at Montana State where he competed in the shotput, hammer and weight throw. He was also a competitive weight lifter, earning fifth place at the 1999 Collegiate National Championships in the 105 kg class.
White, a 2005 graduate of Rutgers, was the assistant director of strength and conditioning at Furman (2010-11) after spending two years at Humboldt State (2007-09) as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach.
White was a four-year letterwinner for the Rutgers rowing team.
White will work with volleyball, men's soccer, softball, rowing and cross country.
The Hornets also added strength and conditioning interns Kyle Aber and Tom Distasio to the staff this year.
Aber will work with baseball, women's golf and football while Distasio will work with men's basketball, gymnastics, women's soccer and football.
