What are all of your thoughts on the Student Section? and BRING ALL YOUR eph'n FRIENDS!

its gettin better but we need more of u, get over to the student housing and let em know across the street is a possible ncaa tourney team!

Rumor has it, WSU has another stupid idea. After this year no longer will students be able to get the complimentary season tickets from the ticket office! That's a great idea to NOT fill the Dee. Good Stupid Idea!

I also heard they will be making the student section smaller next eyar because it never gets filled all the way. Well, whose fault is that? If someone with a salary would do something, more students would probably come! These guys just keep shooting themselves in the feet.

I just don't understand how their minds work up there in the athletic dept. So many things are going through my mind right now and they are all notty words so I will refrain from saying them. Seriously, lets get a petition together to get Kim Turner fired.

The student senate actually did away with that option. It has nothing to do with the athletic department. However, when the student senate, at the behest of the athletic department, in the late 90's gave up the pit for the Wildcat Club, those sections were supposed to be saved for the students forever!! Also, there was suppose to be a back-up pit provided every season to students behind the west basket. The athletic department has reneged on both counts. If the students really gave a d*** about their rights, maybe they'd take the time to figure out why certain options were given to them in the first place. Maybe the students should ask to get the pit back and to put the band back down on the floor like it was before the boring old people took over the pit. They are the worst fans down there. They never get into the games and when students are trying to get the crowd excited more often than not somebody in that area gets angry and starts telling the fans to be quiet or something. If you'd like more information with regards to this issue go see Andy Young. Atletics made a lot of promises that they haven't followed through with. I think the Wildcat Club should sit behind the East basket, also supposedly student seating.

So what was the thinking behind taking the student section away? the Student Sentate Just had to think of something to do that week and thought they'd mess with the Athletic department? I know a good amount of those folks on the Senate and they could care less about wsu hoops. i bet most of them haven't even been to a game. I can maybe see making the student section smaller, but talking away the free tickets. That's just ruthless. I guess it's all part of the war the geeky academic kids who throw like girls want to wage on the whole athletic side of the University Experience "He He Shakesphere is way cooler than a Davis Dunk" Dorks. Ohh, that makes me mad. It's like they don't want it to be successful. What a bunch of idiots who found a way to abuse what little real power they actually have!

Who the CRAP are these losers on the Student Senate? How in the He## do these guys get elected if they don't bleed purple? I'm ready to go open up a whole case of whup "ASS" on those dorks.
"Make the world a better place, punch our student senate, and our marketing department in the face."

i would bet most of them have never been to a Weber basketball or football game. Why should they have to do anyting when weber will give you a scholarshiop for nothing in return? Oh and im sure they all work full time so they dont have time for games but may as well pay for their tuition and let someone else be in the senate that has time to be in the senate and not working 40 hrs aweek.

Student's will still get into games for free, they are just losing the season ticket option. With only two sections available to them, is the Dee going to turn students away who want to attend the game if those sections are full? It is the amount of Student Section that is the issue. The area available for students has been significantly reduced. In 1996 the Senate was pressured by the Athletic Department to give up their best seats in exchange for four student sections and another "Pit" behind the basket. In the last 12 years, athletics has weaseled three of those five options away from the students. Granted, and this includes the years I was involved in the Senate, most student officers could care less about Weber State, all they care about is their scholarships. Frankly, if I was the advisor, most of them would be repaying their scholarships, since they do absolutely nothing. However, the problem stems from Athletics. There is a hell of a lot of pressure placed upon student leaders by the administration if it will supposedly increase revenue or donations. Who cares about the purpose of Weber State (To educate) when money is involved. Students are taken into rooms with a high ranking official who tells you pretty much that you have no choice, but to give them what they want; for the good of the university. Its all Bull nutterbutter!! However, they can say NO, which would be for the benefit of the student body in almost all the cases. I'd much rather see students sitting in the floor seats with the band down there also.

That would actually be a nice change, to have more students than what the student sections would hold. I doubt that any students would be turned away but would probably have to sit higher up above the portal entrance. Until the students can complain that they don't have enough seating I am sure that they will continue to lose their rights.

Those pit seats would be awesome. I wonder if we could lobby to get those back.

One thing that really bugs me is how half the students don't even stand or chant. We'll get a chant going with claps in the middle, and all anyone ever does is clap. I think if we started being louder and standing the whole game, JP and Billings would bust out of their slump and we'd show Brandon Rush and Kansas what a Weber State upset is all about.

i'm just upset about the loss of the season ticket option. that's how i've been getting my tickets for the last two years. Oh well, i guess I'll actually have to start paying.

wsucatfan[/color]"]Sounds like you will still get in for free, just won't be able to go get 2 reserved tickets in section A.

This is what I've heard.

Of the 3 sections reserved for students, the only change next season is no student reserved tickets and half of that section will be sold as regular season tickets.

For those who dont know. The student reserved section is western end section. Most students don't even know about the student reserved and they usually only had about up to 10 rows of students get the seats.

I did mine last minute before the Purple and White game and I still got row 4.

Even if they did away with the whole section the students would still have 2. The middle one and the east end. From row 1 to 30 that's still gotta be like 2-3000 seats.

The day we get 2-3,000 students in the student section and need to worry about having enough room I serioulsy doubt we'll still be in the Big Sky Conference.

Any thoughts?

As for students getting in the games, it will always be free as long as they have a valid ID, they just won't have a reserved seat.

I know this, but i am not a student anymore. I always counted on the student reserve ticket from my student friends. they would get in with their cards and i would get in with their student-reserve ticket. It has been awesome these last two years. But I guess it's time I start paying. It's okay because it's worth it.

Ya true...I guess when we start paying next season we shouldn't feel bad contributing to the program!! It can use all it can get since football is a money pit.

The price is 5$ with a student ID. I had no idea about this program, so I have been paying that price everygame I go to with a guest for the last 3 years. GRRRRR.

The montanas are going to want a little revenge next week when Weber hosts them at the Dee. Weber needs to have a virulent crowd on hand to help the team beat back Doug Fullerton's schools. Lets implement some ideas to get fans out to the games. Evidently, nobody else is going to do it.
