Anyone have a clue about what's been happening this summer with the players? How many stayed behind in Greeley? Is the Southern Miss QB here yet? Who are the leading candidates for captains?

The So. Miss QB is here and staying with some players. I hear that he throws a good ball.
Based upon all-conference honors, upper classman, and well-respected/liked, my guess that the leading candidates on D would be: Risner, Lenoir, Sanders, and Dubose. On O: Newsome, Zamora, Hendrickson, Piechowski, Leslie, Miller. Sanders and Hendrickson did not receive all-conferenc honors, yet are well respected and seem to be leaders. Just my thoughts.

I forgot to include Newsome as also not receiving all-conference honors last year. The key is that ALL of the players I have mentioned must step up and be leaders. Whether they become captains or not. I think a person that could play an important part is Willingham. Not only does UNC really needs his football abilities, but they need his leadership, on AND off the field.

Mark my words - Boobie Sanders will be all-conference very soon!

I have just spoken with starters (5 of them) on both D and O this week about the scholarships they have just received. They are pissed off becuase Coach Collins only gave them partial scholarships. They all said that they have been promised an increase in their scholarships from Coach Collins. They thought that they would get more considering that three players who were scheduled to receive full rides this fall will not even be on the team (i.e. Rubes, Vandy and Rhodes). They are also pissed that he is giving the full rides to newly recruited players instead of taking care of the players who are here. They all said that they feel taken advantage of when they are showing around recruits that they know will be getting more money than them. One starter told me that he has over $30K in student loans, and still has two more years to play. They say that they can't talk to Coach Collins because he is unapproachable and gets defensive whenever they ask him a question (doesn't sound like a player's coach to me). They also said that when they talk to their position coach, the position coach says that Coach Collins makes ALL the scholarship decisions, without their input. I am sure that they may be stretching the truth a bit, but the important thing is that they could care less about the head coach, who is supposed to be their leader. Not a good environment for success on the field. Shame on Coach Collins for messing with these young adult's lives. The longer Coach Collins remains a head coach, the lower (in pay, location and position) his next job will be. He is digging his own hole. I dare him to take an honest look in the mirror, and say he is 100% confident that he is capable of being a head coach at UNC.
The over/under for next season is 3. I'll take 2.

Well well well... Ive said this since day 1. This staff is a reflection of the individuals that have put them in charge. Those individuals are to blame for the well being of young men, I.E. Norton. You get what you pay for! Sad but true.

And as far as your over/under Ms. Kadee or whatever sex you identify with in the real world... Id say youre dead on. I personally hope he is relieved of duty after a week 4 loss to Weber.

And then what? Have Jon Boyer coach the rest of the way? Would that be any better? Also, I don't think Collins will be fired any time soon, even after a 2 win season. Dunn seems to like him, same with his boss.

My guess is that if Collins gets 3 or less wins, he is gone. 4 wins and he may stay. I'll bet if he was to stay with less than 4 conference wins, most of his assistants would want to leave. Just my guess. If he is let go before the season is over, Kerr would probably take over for the rest of the season, not Boyer. In any case, the culture needs to change and I trust our that student/athletes would survive a mid season coaching change. The entire staff needs to go and re-start their career, by staying here they are not adding anything positive to their resume. I know most of the coaches and they are good guys, just collectively, they and their leader(s) have been terrible during this tenure.

You all know recruits read this right?? Might want to watch what you say

If the post is honest then I don't have a problem with it. If coach Collins is misleading the recruits then they should be aware of it (hell the A.D. should be aware of it).
