Really, this should be a blowout. In fact, both of these roadies should be. However, SUU can make their whole season, and save their coach's job, with a win over Weber. NAU may be beyond hope...., maybe. I don't know if SUU can pull it off, or if we would allow it, but I am sure that we will get a tremendous effort from them.

SUU has absolutely nothing to lose. We have the talent to fight through their enthusiasm and get the win. We can expect them to come out pushing, holding, hacking and whatever else they think might give them a chance. I just hope the refs are able to control the game a little bit and keep players from being seriously injured. I know that is a lot to ask, but I am hoping. :coffee:

Score, if we have reasonable refs: WSU 95 - SUU 55

If not: WSU 75 - SUU 65 :ohno:

Just because the game will be on the road, I think that SUU will keep it closer, but no matter, I really feel that Weber will win going away.

Nothing tells me that there will be reasonable refs in Cedar on Thursday. So, I'm thinking your second score prediction is probably the most accurate.

I'll be attending the SUU game--my first ever Weber State road game. Does anyone here have anything to share about attending a game in Cedar City?

Either way, I'll do what I can to cheer on Weber. I bet it wouldn't be difficult to be heard by the players (Weber or opponent) in a Big Sky gym.

The Birds have a fairly nice arena. It seats 5 or 6 thou. and is comfortable. If I were you, I would get there early to get parking that is close. I would think that this will be the biggest crowd of the year for them. There will be some other Wildcats there. Try to sit close to our bench. there should be a lot of seats available.

Have fun. I'll be watching on line. :thumb: :thumb:

If you are looking for a good place to eat before or after the game tonight, try Centro Woodfired Pizza, on Center St. Not too far from the campus.

Thanks for the ideas and suggestions, brothers. I looked online and all the seats behind Weber's bench are already reserved (that was my first choice), but if I can find some empty seats in that area once I arrive, I'll definitely move there.

I'd like to personally thank the Big Sky or letting this Reffing in this conference get this out of hand.

Thanks to these refs, this is the most boring and predictable game I have ever watched.

THank you Big Sky.

Well...this is a shitty game. Thank you Big Sky!!

So, would it hurt to play a zone just once in a while? Not saying it would help but yikes...SUU can't miss tonight.

Okay, so is it just me, or does it seem like this team is really underachieving? Yes, I know we won, but to barely escape Cedar with a W with our talent level? YIKES!! SUU is not a good team. In fact, they are a terrible team. We didn't look like we were interested in playing tonight. Also, why do we have to look sooo damn bad against Utah teams? Rahe never changed his defense and had the wrong guys on the floor to end the game. I know there are a number of Rahe apologists on this forum and to be honest, I really like coach, but he isn't doing a very good job coaching right now. Jeremy misses 5 straight freebies and makes some really bad passes to end the game, yet, he is still on the floor. Ugh...thank goodness for Bolomboy tonight. What will we do without him next year?

34 out of 54 free throws, and how many of them were front ends? How can this team be such a bad free-throw shooting team? Im tired of free throws being our weakness, This team will not win a championship shooting as badly as they are from the charity stripe. Ugly, ugly UGLY win. Better play better, NAU played well tonight and they can and will beat us if we play like we did tonight.

And as always, Bolomboy was a beast.

Yes I have been a Rahe apologist.I think he does a very good job recruiting and winning fairly consistently,is he perfect?far from it.I bet that if the players performed how they are coached they would be alot better.I am sure these players shoot free throws aplenty during practice but go out and brick them every game.our guards should not be missing so many.I was watching the refs in the other games tonight and there wasn't even close to the fouls as was in webers, why is that? There are lots of places to lay blame,I don't think all of it should come down on rahe.

That game was officiated exactly like the BSC administration wanted. Fullerton and his girl probably made some good money in Reno on this one. They are probably thinking that there was no harm in it. The team that should have won did and they make a little money on the side. No one is hurt, right?

They will probably get a lot of resume's for Fullerton's job now. Everybody will know that you can make a lot of money on the side and get away with it. That's the beauty of having the refs in your pocket and not having to deal with that silly consortium. :wall:

A FEW THOUGHTS ABOUT PLAYERS AND COACH AFTER WATCHING THE SUU EMBARRASSMENT
1) Senglin can shoot and penetrate and nothing else. He can't shoot free throws & refuses to make even a decent effort at playing defense.
2) Cannon is too slow to play defense against even average Division 1 points. He, in the next three years, should be counted on as a decent backup. The team is put at a significant disadvantage with his defense. Cody John should be starting. He is quicker, more athletic, plays better defense, a better penetrator and probably equal to Cannon in shooting skills. I predict he will become an exceptional player over the next three years and Cannon should be relegated to back-up duty where he can be an adequate contributor.
3) The "peanut" is struggling to be an average coach. But he does recruit well and is liked. So while not good enough to take Weber to new heights, he is capable of putting talented and under coached players on the floor who will win sometimes despite him.

THOUGHTS ABOUT THE TEAM
1) The team did not come ready to play and made less that an inspiring effort.
2) SUU's coaching approach made this an "ugly" game to watch. But at least he tried to adjust their game to one that gave his team a chance to win.
3) WSU's lackluster effort on defense (particularly by the guards) and Rahe's refusal to try anything beyond his regular routine almost cost them the game.
4) Weber was out-hustled, out played, out free throwed, out rebounded, and most importantly, out coached.
5) NAU will put a whuppin on them in Flagstaff Saturday if they don't bring a better game to the table.
6) They have underperformed this year, relative to their abilities.
THOUGHTS ABOUT THE GAME
1) A zone defense for a portion of the game would have yielded better results. Poor coaching decision!
2) In the last 2+ minutes SUU began the "hack" approach. It was obvious that they felt like Weber would not hit enough free throws and that they could close the gap in score by immediately fouling. And it worked pretty well, almost to the point of giving them a victory.
3) I can't believe that Rahe was setting up out-of-bounds plays designed to get Bolomoy (68% FT shooter) the ball at a time when SUU was not going to allow Weber to get into any type of offense. They were just going to foul immediately. Why didn't he replace Senglin with either Richardson, Gittens, or Baker who all shoot FT's at a much better clip than Senglin. The only possible justification for having Senglin in the game at that time was his offense. Except in this case SUU wasn't going to allow an offense to develop. So why Senglin and why not set up an out-of-bounds play to get the ball to one of the three mentioned. I am sure that either one of them would have shot better than Senglin's 0-5, and would also have outshot Bolomboy from the line. Just plain ole poor coaching...

THOUGHTS ABOUT THE REFEREE'S
1) They sucked big time...

ONE LAST THOUGHT
Rahe needs to recruit a big time JC power forward. Braxton & Dallas will do an adequate job at center. They won't put the team on their back but they can be adequate. The two power forwards coming back next year are Hill and Stavrev. Stavrev is yet to prove that he can play at this level thus cannot be counted on. Hill has proven that he can play at this level but he is not a starter quality guy. Definitely he cannot make a difference in a game. He is a good rebounder and shot blocker. A below average scorer who is terribly inconsistent and tends to never be out of foul trouble. He is a terrific back up guy but not a 25-30 minutes a night go get the points and rebounds type of guy. Weber needs one badly for next year! They won't likely get that kind of guy form HS and hopefully have such a JC guy in their sights to sign in April.

There are so many great JC power forwards to choose from. It is very hard to find decent bigs in the JC ranks. You will not find anyone close to Hill's level at a JC. Okay maybe one, his name is Omar Sherman and we should be trying hard to get him here. Remember, we brought in one of the best JC power forwards in the nation a few years back. He ended up being 6'3 and couldn't handle the ball.

Here are my thoughts:

1. I will be very happy when Nick Robinson gets fired. I hate how he coaches against us, A) Because it works. B) Because you run the risk of having a serious injury every time you play them.
2. I thought we were not prepared at all for this game. But we know what Nick does to us and it usually is worse in Cedar.
3. LEADERSHIP. Who is the leader of this team? Maybe its Joel and that is why coach wanted him to go down and shoot foul shots every time. I am not sure Jeremy has it between the ears to lead this team.
4. DISCIPLINE. Poor foul shooting. Lots of unforced turnovers. This team almost thinks that they can coast to victories.

One last thing.Weber is a very good defensive team playing man,but when your not allowed to touch your guy let alone run around a screen.did you see how many times SUU got inside for an easy shot.Hell Senglin was called for a foul on a three point shot when he was just standing next to him. Both teams were in the double bonus by the ten minute mark in the first half. You can annalize how bad webers players are are or how bad your coach is but it all starts with the refs. You can plan for a game but when the refs have 6 fouls called in the first minute of play the game plan changes. Its like a deer in the headlights look on the players faces,I actually feel bad for them.Personally I think the big sky is trying to make the conference more competitive than what it is so as to get more excitement among fans to get more to make the trip to that disaster in Reno.GO WEBER and practice your free throws.

It's the answer to the touch fouls. Zone's create automatic double teams, shut down penetration, you have less reason to play with your hands and don't need to worry as much about high screens. How many teams have relied on penetration to hang in games with us? It drives me crazy that we don't at least try a zone once and awhile.

You may be right, but you may be wrong. It is thought that RMs take a year to get their feet and speed back. So the mission takes more out of a skilled athlete than, say, an offensive lineman in football. He does play a little flatfooted, but I'm still in a wait and see mode. I think we may see more quickness from him next year. Oldrunner has promoted Cody John for a long time and it looks like the practice John he gushed about is turning more and more into game-time John.

STGWildcat, I'm sorry you had to pay to watch this crap fest. Between the terrible teams and horrible officiating, the Big Sky has become unwatchable. Last I looked the conference's RPI ranked 28th out of 32 conferences, and dead last in western conferences (even the WAC is ranked higher). SUU is in the bottom 20 of 351 teams. And the conference's only answer to improving the conference is to invite all teams to a neutral tournament. :wall: When does football start?
